'Wild' beer from what is probably the second of Slovenia's small but zealous craft brewing elite, 37.5 cl bottle from Davor, thanks man! Very violent gusher, streaming out of the bottle neck and onto the kitchen table with a lot of beer loss - I guess the fact that the brewers apparently have no idea what kind of microbes live on the fruits they used, should have been a warning to an experienced beer drinker like me, but I still like the premise of this, considering the unfathomable multitude of wild fermenting organisms still out there to explore... Anyway, what is left over in the bottle, produces a medium thick, egg-white, shred-lacing, mousy, stable head and an equally misty peach blonde robe with pale orangey tinge - all in all, this looks a lot more decent than expected after such a gushing onslaught. Aroma of orange peel and even mandarin flesh, sweet white grapes, purple gooseberries, dry Chardonnay, dough, jute bags, sweetbread, dried bitter herbs and even a faint touch of fennel seed, raw carrot peel, cava, dry earth, freshly cut red apple. Crisp but very estery-fruity onset, white grape, mandarin and green pear, sweetish but not overly so and balanced by a soft lime-like tartness coming from those wild yeasts, lively carbonation but not distracting too much from the flavour; soft and fluffy mouthfeel, doughy maltiness, very bready with even a thin layer of honeyish sweetness on top, yet balanced by this green grape- and apple-like tartness. Yeasty finish with earthy and bready notes but not to the extent that it becomes 'dirty', holding itself very well in place, with a late but effective and necessary leafy hop bitterness, which altogether remains soft and gentle; fruity esters and grape-like sourness linger well after that, with a dry white wine- and ripe gooseberry-like effect on top of a soft, gentle and welcoming malt and yeast breadiness. Too bad for that violent gushing, but ignoring that, this has turned out very well, incorporating very fruity esters and refreshing yet never acidic tartness into a bready, very 'Belgian' style beer; if anyone told me that this was made by a Belgian microbrewery, I would have believed it - though I would have had a hard time trying to identify the brewer... Probably a happy accident - again, apart from the gushing - but the flavours come together well in this modern, 'Americanized' farmhouse ale style beer. Would happily drink again, but I do recommend Lobik to try and find out which microbes are actually at work here, as trying to control them could be a stepstone towards true international greatness in the field of 'wild' and mixed fermentation. Very interesting - even to the point that I will try to ignore the heavy gushing in my rating here.

Misty amber-orange body, darker, thick off white head. Complex aroma, vinuous, tart, ?brett?, berries, malt, lovely. Excellent balance, brett?, cherries, fresh sourness, funk, not really saisonish but an excellent sour. Ends fruity-tart and juicy. Hats off!

Bottle, 0.375l. Aroma of yeast, cereals, grape skin, overripe fruit, vinegar, faint solvent and funk. Pours hazy deep golden color with thin creamy off-white head, good lacing and average sparkling appearance. Taste starts light sweet and sour grainy, following is citrusy, peppery and funky, mouthfeel is crisp and dry, while finish is mild bitter. Medium body, almost creamy texture and lively carbonation in palate. Wild, but good...

Pours hazy, fiery orange, topped with medium white head, non-lasting. Gentler soury character in the nose. Some spices added and some leathery feel, also slight cheese. In the bacl some fruitiness that gets more noticeable with time. Pretty solid sourness, vinous-vinegary, along with slight spiciness. Relativelly filling body, finishes with some bitterness and lasting aftertaste. Pretty nice one. More on the soury side.
