The commemorative Stout is inspired by a recipe Benjamin Guinness – the son of Arthur Guinness – originally developed in 1817. It is the latest beer to be created by the Open Gate Brewery – the pilot brewery located at St. James’s Gate in Dublin – where Guinness brewers experiment with new styles and reinterpret historical brews.

Bottle. So, couldn't really tell the difference of this and regular Guinness. Coffee black with hardly any head. Biter burnt grain taste and aroma.

lots of adjunct molasses and black strap licorice. Very thin body. Not overly complex but it’s ok

Pretty decent stuff, though I think the Jamaican version is actually a little better. Roast and a touch of cream. Black pour with great head and lacing. Dry coffee type finish. Bottle.

12 oz bottle from Total Wine Uptown. Pours out near black, foamy beige head subsides. Aroma is light, sweet roast. Taste adds chocolate, cola notes. Not as stunning as their regular foreign release, but a sweeter take on their normal brew.

Bottle from tfontana, thanks for the opportunity! Solid dark brown in color with a good sized long lasting beige head that persists and laces the glass all the way down. Earthy roast light caramel and faint cocoa with some light pitted fruit. Pretty nice beer, easy to quaff but flavorful.

Single bottle from Mariano's Westchester. Well, no nitro or widget. So a carbonated big fluffy tan head, over a solid black stout body. Nose is roasty as expected, and it has a note of chocolate bar sweetness hanging in the back. Taste is roasty as well. Not quite as dry as a regular Guinness. A little of the Guinness sourness comes out halfway down the glass. But there's still some cocoa sweetness that sets it apart. Not my choice for a summertime beer, but it goes down nicely when the sun is down and the AC is on.

Pours black with a thick creme head. Aroma of roasted nut elements. Taste has bitter toasted element, slightly watery. Palate has creme, toasted hop elements. Pretty good.

[11.2oz bottle from Albertsons, Fullerton, CA] A glossy dark brown pour with a tight pale tan head; aroma of rich tarry malts; in the mouth there's a very milky feel, with deeply roasted malts adding sweetness, and some coffee and chocolate; the finish is drier and gently bitter and goes on and on. This is really well balanced, and better than any other Guinness I've tried, giving fullness of flavour without the alcoholic kick of some of the Foreign Export Stouts. Excellent.
