Dark brown with a medium sized foamy head. Phenolic, bready, leathery and a bit fruity. Long finish. Medium body.

Sampled on draft at the Pittsburgh location this beer poured a dark brown color with a small beige head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was candied fruits, sugar, caramel and tangy malts. The flavor was a bit tart with sugar, candied cherries and pears, caramel, nut, yeast and licorice notes. The finish was long and sugary with lingering ripe fruits. Thick and full bodied. There was an odd presence that reminded me of the Unibroue house yeast character. Quite nice.

Fig, prune, chocolate malt, hay and alcohol aroma. Dark amber with small head. Very sweet fig, raisin, candi sugar, caramel malt, and moderately bitter hay and alcohol flavor. Good body. Nice - only a bit boozy.

Plum and raisin are both mild but dominating. Slightly lacking the belgian yeast bubblegum type flavours. But all around good, not great. Fat heads portland ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Fat Head's Portland, pours a hazy dark orange amber with a small white head. Aroma brings out Belgian yeast, dark fruits and toffee. Flavour is well-balanced, with all of the aforementioned qualities in harmony. A little on the sweet side, but still in acceptable range. Good stuff.

Tap. Pours cloudy reddish hazel, medium creamy tan head, great lacing. Aroma is malty, dried fruits, yeast, all spice, dates. Flavor is medium sweet, light bitter, spicy and fruity, anise, raisin, clove. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel. Solid.

Let me tell ya, this is more like a scotch. So, I’ll rate another FH thinking I may get more nasty homie beermail.....Fairly sterile aroma at bocktown, not much on the nose. First taste is alky in yer face. Its simply a big strong impressing beer from the start. Some leather in there - alky laced. Decent co2 thanks to the fresh bocktown taps. Finish is somewhat in yer face, certainly a strong ale, just not sure if its belgian....way too uncivilized to be a Belgian. Yes, more like another american wannah bee. Yep, a little cloying and leathery, seems like it should be a scotch ale, perhaps a wee heavey BTJMHO and what do I know?

On tap at Fat Heads. Pours a clear copper color with a medium white head. A big nose of banana, bubblegum. A rich and warm brew, big banana esters, some dryness, candy sugars. Good. Finishes with a burst of fruity hops.

On draught at Bodega. The beer is a dark reddish-brown color with a medium off-white head that dissipates steadily. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark malt, fruit and yeast. Medium to full body with flavors of dark fruit, caramel malt and mildly spiced yeast. The finish is malty with touches of figs and dark fruit left behind. Above average overall.

On tap at Fat Heads in Pittsburgh. Pour is a fairly nondescript brown with a little bit of tan head and aromas of malty brown sugar. Flavors are similar... lots of brown sugar and an odd light fruit (pears?) that gives way to a bit of pit fruit darkness. I really liked this one.
