Hop Harvest is an annual beer brewed with fresh, wet hops. The choice of brewing with only wet hops results in a very specific floral bitterness.
Taste: Full floral bitterness with a long-lasting aftertaste.

30 April 2019. At Dirk's First Home-made Beer Tasting. Cheers to all! Pours hazy golden with a lasting, small, unstable, frothy, white head. Aroma of grass, apple peel, young banana, herbs, pepper, pineapple, turnip, yellow bell pepper. Taste is light fruity sweet, restrained apple & pear, some banana but not too estery, medium hoppy bitter core of grass, spices, sourish undercurrent with a decent bready & yeasty character, leading to a dry, grassy hoppy finish with more yeast, spices & unripe fruit. Medium body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. Feels very Belgian and yet modern at the same time, well done by Ranke.

Last year's edition in this series, with Fuggles this time, 75 cl bottle from De Hopduvel in Ghent. Thick and frothy, foamy, egg-white, dense, membrane-lacing head, apricot blonde robe with dirty ochre-ish hue, enlivened with enthusiastic sparkling everywhere. Aroma of green banana, dry old 'herbes de Provençe', old bread crust, fried apple, rosewater, curcuma powder, dough, pear, dried wormwood leaf, cloves. Fruity onset, banana ester mixed with pear and apricot impressions, green apple touch, sweetish but not too sweet, medium carbonated with minerally effects, but not too harsh. Bready malt body, both 'crusty' and doughy, soft with a very light peanutty edge somehow, quickly turning more earthy and herbal, with a confident and nicely 'rippling' hop bitterness, yet remaining altogether fairly soft and mild, leaving the door open for the fruity esters to continue well into the finish. Earthy yeasty notes too, especially in the end. An earthy, quenching Belgian blonde like the others, free of off-flavours or other technical flaws, very highly drinkable and ticking all the boxes as far as classic Belgian saison is concerned (more so than many other beers called 'saison' for commercial reasons nowadays); does feel a tad less hoppy than earlier editions, though, probably because Fuggles is generally regarded as a rather 'shy' and low profile English noble hop variety - a message De Ranke amply conveys here, though perhaps unintentionally so. Solid enough, but I liked most of the earlier versions better.

Flaska från SB drucken med ölföreningen. Gyllengul och disig med högt vitt skum. Blommig och lite jordig doft med både saisonjäst och humle. Torr och krispig, grön mandlar, gräs, saisonblommig och lång besk eftersmak. Mycket gott. Som vanligt.
