This beer's biscuity malt flavor and hint of citrusy hops are the backdrop for the bold zest of ginger, which adds a warming, spicy character that's just right for a cool night.

Clear gold color. Minimal, but lacing head. Aroma has some ginger, as does the flavor, combined with a dry malt flavor. Minimal hops and an odd palate that leaves a sort of coating of ginger and lingering dryness with ginger remaining.

Bottle. Ginger, caramel malt, and hay aroma. Golden yellow with large white head. Mildly sweet ginger, caramel malt, and mildly bitter hay flavor. Good body. Very pleasant - good ginger flavor without being too sweet.

12 ounce bottle, 12/5/16. Clear golden, thin fizzy off-white head, decent retention. Aroma of ginger, pale malts, herbal and leafy notes. The taste is ginger and pale malt, some apple juice. Thin. Meh. 12.7k!

12 ounce bottle into signature pint glass, best before 4/2017. Pours fairly crystal clear medium golden yellow color with a 2 finger dense and rocky white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of ginger, lemon, lime, orange zest, wheat, biscuit, light honey, herbal, light pepper, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of pale malt, ginger/citrus, and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of ginger, lemon, lime, orange zest, wheat, biscuit, light honey, herbal, light pepper, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of ginger, lemon, lime, orange zest, wheat, biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and balance of pale malt, ginger/citrus, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light dryness from bitter/spiciness, lightly increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy, and lightly sticky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6%; subtle ginger spice heat builds through the glass on the finish. Overall this is a very nice spiced blonde ale. All around nice robustness and balance of pale malt, ginger/citrus, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth, clean, and refreshing to drink. Very spot on for the style, and never overwhelming on spice flavors. A very enjoyable offering.

Pour is a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma is all ginger all the time. Flavor is again pretty much all ginger. Well Sam Adams made a ginger beer and here it is. I wish Sam Adams would use some hops as liberally as they used ginger in this beer.

Pours clear gold into a Sam glass. Bright white head with good retention recedes to skim surface. Sweet caramel and ginger aromas. Soft with sugary malt and bready ginger turning to mild earthy bitterness in the dry, medium length finish. Not sure why, but malty Sam Adams beers give me a headache...

12 oz bottle from the winter variety pack. Aroma is SweeTarts, subtle ginger, a generic beer smell. Pours clear golden with a thick off-white head with great retention. Taste is sweet, finishing dry and alcoholic. Tastes of coriander, faint spiciness from maybe ginger. Not bad, actually. I was expecting an alcohol version of your standard soda pop ginger ale, but this is definitely more beer than hard soda. I’d rather have this than the ubiquitous Winter Lager, actually.

Bottle: Clear, deep, bubbly gold with a tight white head. Very mild ginger and barley malt scent. Taste is a bit like a honeyed pale lager with mild ginger accents. It’s ok....just not enough ginger or spice to make it memorable.
