Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a glass. Clear medium brown with medium/small white head. Aroma is salty pretzel, medium body, well carbonation, and good small-bubble lacing. Taste is dark malt, esters, salt, and some butter. Smells pretty close to a pretzel and doesn’t taste completely unlike a pretzel. I would have guessed a dunkleweizen. Expectations were low, so this is pretty good and a nice surprise.

Draft. A- Pretzels, bread, dough, slightly salty. A- Brown color, hazy liquid, off white head. T- Bread, subtle salt, malty, wheat. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, soft finish. O- This is definitely a novelty and admittedly one I have wanted to try. I must say, it’s worth trying. It literally smells like a pretzel. Doesn’t quite translate into the taste, and maybe that’s a good thing but it really wasn’t bad. I wouldn’t buy a full six pack or their sampler just to get it but if I can find a single of it I wouldn’t hesitate to grab it for fun.

Bottle: Pours clear, very deep brown-amber with a really large beige head. The aroma is the high point of this one.....spot on, fresh, pretzel.... Taste is less pretzel-y..... though it’s still there....sweet wheat malt, caramel, toasted bread....salted butter.... I’ll say this, it delivers what it’s name promises....and it’s pretty tasty..... A really nice AB product........I really enjoyed it....well done.

Bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a clear, dark Amber with minimal head. Aroma of salted popcorn with a hint of caramel. Taste is light sweet, follows aroma. Meh, i can see how there is some pretzel but I’m pretty much just popcorn.

Anyone who knows me knows I’m loathe to drain pour a beer. It just feels like hard earned money going down the drain. Reminds me of a story of my friends Peter and Valerie, who tinkered with homebrewing back in the 90’s. I don’t think they were interested in crafty beer so much as cutting into their alcohol budget which explains why they once tried to brew an extra strong beer that came out tasting of bubblegum and fusel alcohol. They called it chiclet in tribute but they didn’t like it. But I loved it and would drink a bomber of it every time I came over for a visit. This was way before I ever knew much about beer, so I didn’t even know it was an accidental Belgian strong ale. But what if they didn’t have me? Poor chiclet might have sat in their basement til they decided to pour it out and move on. A more extreme example is another friend who tried a recipe that failed and ended up feeding it to the dog. I’ve heard of old ladies who salt their beer but I never heard of a home brew experiment going wrong to where salty, buttery diacetyl, acetaldehyde and vegetal DMS all came together in just the right way to make granny think hey this tastes like the salty beer I drink with my pretzels, but what if there’s no granny? Can we just sell it as pretzel beer? You know what I don’t like? Those buttered popcorn flavored jelly beans. This beer tastes like that. And its ugly too.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a clear amber with a thin white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of caramel, wheat and toasted bread, pretzel like indeed. The taste is wheat, caramel, spice, salt, stone fruit, burnt popcorn. Thin bodied. A novelty for sure but not bad.

Pour is a dark brown with a small white head. Aroma is kinda like a pretzel. Flavor is exactly like a hot soft pretzel. Doughy, with that brown outside taste down to the salt on the outside. Like many have said there is no way you would drink a six pack of this let alone a 12 oz bottle. A small sample is plenty. It’s a gimmick sure but I can’t knock it too bad since it’s exactly as advertised.
