Bottle (fridged), undated, but fresh, drunk 12/1/15.
Pours a nicely bright, cherry-to-amber colored body, well-carbonated and a light beige head atop showing strong retention.
Cherry, pineapple, ruby red grapefruit, brown sugar and an underlying earthiness/nuttiness from the rye. Quite fruity and with a touch of pine-like resin, but nothing problematic and showing no alcohol or flaws.
Similar flavors of cherry skin, grapefruit, lemon and orange rind and a heavily dry, paper-like malt character. Holy shit that’s dry. Just no sweetness whatsoever, with a heavily astringent, husky character exposed due to the lack of maltiness. Heavy lemon and grapefruit character builds up, as well, on account of this and even though the bitterness isn’t obnoxious, there’s just zero balance to this beer and all of the dry and bitter notes become too much to take. Not sure if they used way too much rye in this, but it’s difficult to drink much more than a few mouthfuls.

Pours hazy dark amber into a shaker. Off-white head with excellent retention tophats and glops as it recedes. Sweet citrus, peppery rye and tropical fruit aromas. Dry with tropical fruit and caramel upfront turning to dark chocolate and pepper in the lasting finish.

stubby bottle grabbed at the Lebanon Co-Op. Split 2 ways @ fridge temp. Murky dark red. 2 finger yellowish head. Nose is nice. a substantial bitterness, mostly pine, herbal spicy peppercorn and a sugary dough like aroma. I love the sweet middle and finish to this beer. Rye spice lingers at the finish and you get some of it at the start. It’s like a caramel, sort of brown sugar forward rye beer really interesting.

Two different 4 oz. sample at Powder Keg Chili and Beer fest, Exeter, NH... 4 Oct, 2014 Amber red color. Rye malt, wet grass and danky hops. Flavor has a zesty tanginess with a nice citrus kick toward the finish. Medium to light bodied, standard carbonation, semi-dry finish, mild lingering bitterness. Love this beer.

On tap at the source Reddish brown color. Earthy spicy pine aroma with bits of bread and caramel to counter. Spicy earthy bite in the flavor with just enough malt to balance. Nice rye beer.
