Draft. Coffee, chocolate malt and hay aroma. Dark brown with moderate head. Wood ash and coffee-chocolate malt and lightly bitter hay flavor. Excellent.

~4 oz taster at the brewery in Louisville, Kentucky. The pour is brown, hazed, with a light tan head. Even with the small sample glass, visible lacing. The aroma is nutty roasty malt, along with a mineral character that gives it an almost soft char character. The taste follows the nose nicely, the malt is dominant with roast, nut and the mineral character. The mineral dries the beer out nicely. The palate is light to medium bodied, active carbonation and the mineral char lightly nutty finish. Really well constructed and brewed beer. One of the more memorable Brown Ales I have had. Normally I don’t rate tasters, though I really enjoyed this beer and wanted to get my notes documented.
