You’ve made a discovery – a Golden Helles from the original Lager House build by Christian Moerlein in Cincinnati’s Brewery District over 150 years ago. Today, Moerlein Lager House is brewed to the same standards that declared it the first American Brew to pass the Reinheitsgebot Purity Law. This Munchner-styled Helles is a balanced lager featuring a lightly toasted, yet defined malt character and a touch of hops for a clean finish. Moerlein Helles features a deep golden color, 2-row and Munich malt, Hersbrucker hops, averages 5.2% alcohol by volume with an original gravity of 13 and bitterness units of 19.

12oz bottle from a Moerlein mixed 12pack bought in Kentucky. Sweet brewery malt aroma. Orange tan color, slightly hazy, but mostly clear. Mild crisp hoppiness up front and a smooth, sweet malty finish. A little thicker and richer than a typical German example. Pretty good session beer.

Clear gold with little head. Aroma is malty, sweet, honey, and bread. Similar flavor. Smooth body with a very light dry hop finish. A boring beer.

Bottle Pours out a gold topped with a white head. Aroma of malts and a light hop. Tast more of the malt with a little hop on the end. Even a touch of bitterness.
