The MERCI MAMAN 2 is a slightly smoked Saison of 4.5 vol% alc. The beer was created as recognition of brave mothers and women during the Great War 1914-18. The brewery always chooses a social project for a 3-year period. During this period, 10 % of the turnover generated by this beer is donated to the project. The recipe of this beer is therefore always ‘reinvented’ for each new project. This gives the brewer another opportunity to be creative. In its first initiative the brewery supported the Istalif project in Afghanistan, founded by Jenny Vanlerberghe. The project aims at giving women in Afghanistan a dignified and independent existence. Since 2018 the contribution of MERCI MAMAN 2 is attributed to Project KINDIA, a project that aims at providing children in India with decent education.

Flaska från Belgiuminabox. Disig ornagegul vätska med högt men snabbt försvinnande vitt skum. Syrlig doft med citrus, vete, jäst, persika och i bakgrunden en liten rökig ton. Mycket lätt kropp och uppfriskande. Lätt syrlig, en hel del citrus men mest zestig skalbeska som dock klingar av snabbt för en lite vattnig eftersmak med över det finns en snygg rökighet och lite fruktiga estrar som mest drar åt persika. Annorlunda och kul. Gott

Bottle from LDW, Eke. Hazy amber colour, white foam. Light smoky aroma, citrus, peach. Taste is rather bitter, citrussy. Very well balanced. Refreshing. Nice surprise.

330 ml. bottle. Smoked saison with oat, rice, corn & spelt – wait what? Bright sparkling golden, soapy white head. Nose is mellow medicinal smoke & low sugary sweet white bread in the back. Very high carbonation. Taste is medicinal smoke veering almost to dash of peat with empty body due to high carbonation plus white bread, cornbread & sweet dandelion, medicinal honey. Unusual for sure, quite empty as well, almost mineral, strong plastic. Peculiar, could have been better, could have been worse, bit neutral muted almost oddly for what it is. De Leite continues their recent track of being peculiar.

F: thin, white, average retention. C: straw, bit hazy. A: watery bretty, bit fruity, bit woody. T: watery bretty, bit woody, fruity, bit woody tannins, nice bitterness, medium body and carbonation, quite watery feeling but ok, sample shared with Germany and BE RB crew @ ZBF 2018.

28/04/2018 – 10cl glass shared with an international ratebeer crew @ZBF2018. Cloudy golden, small sticky lacing. Nose is thin, bit corn. Taste is malts, corn, some spice. thin.

Clear pale blond to yellow beer, creamy solid off-white head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: malty, grains, little fruity, herbal, bit smoky. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty bitter, bit metallic, fruity touch, yeasty. Aftertaste: hoppy, dry, grassy, bitter, bit yeasty.
