A shade darker Copper, Good Head, Some Lacing. Same as others from sample pack, lacks flavor sharpness. Bland and subdued. Tastes Malty, Light Bitter and finishes little sour. Enjoyed it the least from this sample pack. Drinkable, but meh... Pass it....

Bottle. Lightly sweet barley malt aroma. Golden yellow with small head. Sweet caramel malt flavor. Nice clean lager but not really any typical bock characteristics.

Bottle, just said ’winter ale’ on the label. Light oxidized roasted and fruity aroma. Dark brown, offwhite layer. Fullbodied, light oily mouthfeel - quite a bit residual sweetness, nutty, roast, herbal hop balance - not entirely harmonious IMO.

bottle - Pours dark amber with a small off-white head. It has minimal aroma. The flavor is very sweet with some caramel. It tastes off though. I’m not sure what it is about it. I don’t think it’s infected, but whatever’s going on, it’s not good. Thin. Odd. Meh.

Celtic Knot, Evanston bottle ($3.50): Pours a brown color with a tan head. Aroma of sweet malts. In honesty, it didn’t taste very bocky to me; it seemed to be more oriented towards a lame English style winter ale. Caramel malts were most present in the aroma and in the taste. Palate was uninteresting. I would just say that this was an expected disappointment. Anything contracted to Minhas is just not going to be that exciting.

Bottle. Clear, dark copper with reddish highlights. Off-white head, mostly disappearing. The aroma is sweet with caramel, grain. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes sweet with slight taste of rye with some vegetal notes. Medium body with a watery texture that turns sticky in the finish. Fizzy carbonation. Not much going on here. One and out.

Deep orange-red body, thin off-white head. Cerealy aroma, toasty and grassy, with sweet brown sugar notes. Somewhat metallic. Metallic body, too, with toast and light sweet bready malt. Thin-bodied, lacking heft. Boring.

Draft in a shaker pint. Nice red color, thin head. Thinner malt smell with the usual Berghoff yeastiness (or iron in the water). Taste, though, is pretty nice for a Huber beer. Some toasty caramel malts and a definite German hop heritage. Goes down nicely but for a thin mouthfeel for a bock. And at $1.75 for a draft, a good deal. Is Huber improving under its new ownership?
