Purchased at Trader Joe’s in Nashville. Pours a cloudy amber colour with a golden hue. Its head is nice and creamy, off-white, with good retention and just lacking some lace. Big banana aroma at first pour, then, the wheat comes out with some rich dark fruits. Flavours of bread, caramel, bananas and light hop. A pretty good brew, well-balanced, for such a cheap price at Trader Joe’s.

Poured from 12 oz bottle. I’ve had this before, for a $5.99 per 6 pack beer, it’s pretty good. Appearance is caramel color with little head, aroma consists of those little candy bananas I remember as a kid mixed with clove. Taste is similar to a wheat ale, a bit more carbonated though. It’s decent.

Hazy light brown unfiltered color... kind of on the light side of dunkelweizens. As expected there was a quickly dissipating head. Aroma was not as strong as I would have liked, but the banana notes were certainly present. Taste had some sweetness, a little banana, a few spicy notes. Definitely not as strong in taste as other dunkelweizens I’ve had, but the beer was for teh most part well done.

Location: 12 oz bottle Trader Joes (Short Pump), 1/16/10

Aroma: Wheaty nose, banana, clove, and some slightly funky yeast
Appearance: Cloudy brownish-red color with a beige head
Flavor: Semi-sweet flavor of yeast and spice, banana more present in the finish
Palate: Medium bodied with a relatively short duration and a pretty clean finish
Overall Impression: This made for a pretty sold Dunkelweizen, and at the Trader Joes price point, a solid beer always makes you feel like you got a heck of a deal. This one is no exception to that rule. It would make for a very nice party offering considering you wouldn't put too much of a dent in your wallet sharing these with a bunch of people, and its probably not going to scare off the non-craft crown (well expect those that only drink fizzy yellow beers, and are scared of a beer with any color, but your not buying for them anyway). Anyone with even a modicum of interesting in trying something new should be willing to give this one a chance.

12oz bottle. Deep orange-brown color with a thin beige head. Solid banana aroma with a hint of sugary dark malts. The yeast strain is really solid and flavorful, but it sort of dominates. The malt is a tad thin, certainly not as thick and rich as some other examples of the style. Some crispness upfront keeps it balanced. Hard to gauge an accurate description and overall rating from RB, as the low price and generic nature of the beer generates pointlessly low ratings. Not really "bad" in any respect, just not world class either.

Bottle from Trader Joes - Short Pump on 04/14/2009. Murky brown body with a large frothy tan head. Sweet banana and clove aroma. Banana and clove flavor, some yeasty notes. Medium light body with moderate carbonation and a somewhat thin mouthfeel.

Pours as it should. Murky medium brown with a tall, long lasting off-white head. Nice banana nose. Sweet malt start with a big wheat bite at the end. A smooth easy drinking Dunkelweizen.

12oz bottle from TJS poured into a white wine glass.. Pours very nicely with a thick and murky brown body. The head is a nice medium size but fades rather quick. Aroma is strong banana esters, slightly brown bananas. Its got a of yeasty doughness working there as well. Taste is similar, the esters are mellow and do not overpower but are strong. Very easy drinking and spot on for a dunkel weizen, not sure why the ratings are so low. I will be picking up a sixer of this next time.

12 ounce bottle from Trader Joe’s in Short Pump/Glen Allen, Virginia. Pours a murky reddish brown color with a medium creamy head, low retention and poor lacing. Big wehat and banana aromas hit you as soon as the cap comes off. Also notes of clove and stone fruits. Taste is wheat, banana, clove and stone fruits, much like the aroma. Active carbonation, smooth and full bodied. Pretty nice beer for $6 a six pack.

Bottle. Pour is a hazy brown with a big, fluffy, tan head. Aromas of brown sugar & cloves. Flavors are sweet, earthy and have a mildly spicy backdrop. Even so, there is a lack of punch, and while it doesn’t come off as watery, it does come off as lacking in fullness.
