There’s no one area of our store where our commitment to value is more prevalent than any other. It’s everywhere! And so, it stands to reason that the beer aisle is one of those places. The variety of high-quality, high-value beers we offer is astounding. As warmer weather approaches, you’ll want an everyday beer you can count on—and we’re willing to wager that Simpler Times Lager is the perfect contender.
Made by a family-owned brewery in Wisconsin that’s been a-brewin’ for more than 150 years, it’s crisp, easy to drink, and has a well-balanced flavor that pairs swimmingly with both seafood and spicy dishes. And just like in simpler times, this brewer never adds any of the fillers found in some inexpensive beers. We’re all for simply terrific beer at a simply terrific price. Here’s to Simpler Times!

355ml. Copper colour, mid-sized white head. Sweetish a bit bready and honeyish nose. Light to medium-bodied. Very sweet pale lager. Honeyish, bready and malty. Not so bad anyhow. Decent malty lager.

Wowie, 70 cents for a can of craft 6.2% lager from trader joes in NC, YEA BABY! Pour is slightly darker than pale. Off lager nose, not real pleasant. First taste is somewhat like aged cheap ie lager, heheh. A little volatile for a 6% brew, tastes more like 7%, no hiding alky content here. I know its only 70 cents but I was expecting something a little like cheap pale lager, this is almost like strong lager, I think its in the wrong style. Should be premium lager or strong lager. Yes a little difficult. But hey, it does its job! Not real bad overall considering the heat outside. Glad to have had a chance to taste this cheaper high alky beer.

12 oz. can from Trader Joe's. Pours a crystal clear deep gold color with a small white head and decent retention. Fair, spotty lacing. Almost no aroma. Grainy, sweet pale lager flavor with a slightly harsh finish. Borderline malt liquor territory. Crisp mouthfeel. Light body. Short finish. No bitterness. The 6.2% ABV is partially hidden. Not Trader Joe's best effort.

Can from Trader Joe's 3.99 a six pack. Pours a deep gold color bordering on amber with a decent sized frothy white head that persists. Toasty toffee caramel maltiness with diacetyl and green apple. Thin body moderate carbonation. Not good.

12 oz can from a Traders Joe's; drank in the afternoon sun on 27th March 2019 while in California, sat by my daughters pool. Clear and clean golden body, full white head that didn't last very long before becoming a wisp and collar. Corn and grainy nose, taste also light grains with a sweetness akin to corn like flavours. Didn't really enjoy it.

Sometimes you might drink a beer and say this is the worst ever but maybe you don't entirely mean it. I think I could mean it here. Rough drinking, grainy, weird corn notes, almost sickly sweet. It doesn't get a 0.5 only because I can't truly ding appearance too hard. It was golden, clear, and produced a head.

Can pour into shaker pint glass. Appearance is clear, light orange with decent sparkle, ephemeral white fizzy head and no lacing. Aroma is caramel malts with light Belgian yeast fruity esters. Taste is fruity esters. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with slick texture, lively carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, call me crazy but if you labeled this as a saison, perhaps people would like it more. As a lager/malt liquor it's disappointing to have the esters but if it seemed more intentional it wouldn't seem bad. Make no mistake--no complexity and not strong, but not bad.

12 oz can at radagast83's new place, thanks Chris! Clear yellow with off-white head. Aromas of malt, corn. Tastes of corn, wheat, malt, caramel. Light body with a dry finish. Decent.

Kind of dirty but not horribly so. Some elements of concrete grinded chewing gum and a little chemical smoke. Simpler Times indeed. Can.

Pale golden with white head - Malt aroma that has no hops at all - Flavourless malt body that lacks hop and lacks bitterness - This malt finish - This was just very boring
