Think of it as a hefeweizen’s older brother. A hearty mix of wheat and dark German barley malts gives it a medium body and muddy brown hue, while our proprietary yeast strain provides the signature notes of banana and clove. If you like wheat beers, come to the Dunkel side. You won’t be disappointed. Just don’t put any lemon in it. 6.4% ABV.

22 oz. bottle. Smells of banana. Pours a thick amber hue, with a thin head that never quite dissipates. Tastes sweet, but not too cloying. Average dunkel.

Bottle: Pours a hazy brown-orange with a thin beige head. Aroma is fruity, spicey, and a little yeast. Flavor is crisp with wheat, yeast, cloves, and more citrus. Finishes clean and lightly spicey. Fun.

Man, this has nothing that I look for in a dunkelweizen - no hearty, nutty character - no balancing wheaty tang/tartness - none of the complex phenols - this is pretty much a medium sweet, slightly more hearty amber ale - there is a little bit of banana and yeasty character to let you know that they at least TRIED to make a dunkelweizen - as a beer, it’s not terrible, but it’s certainly not what it’s advertised as.

Bottle from Liquid Solutions. Dark coppery amber color with a three finger frothy beige head. Aromas of dark malt/wheat, clove and banana. Near full bodied with frothy carbonation. Flavors of banana, chocolate, clove, and roasted grain. Actually dry. Approaching astringent. Pretty darn good.

Pours amber into a weizen. Off-white head recedes to hug rim. Boozy banana and clove aromas. Crisp with bubblegum and cloves from front to back. Lasting banana finish.

Pours copper with gold edges and tan head. The aroma is sweet malts followed by cherries, plums and a dash of caramel. I seem to be getting a bit of smoke too. The taste holds a nice load of cherries and prunes then turning toward solid black pepper. Smooth good stuff. It ends with sweetness, dark fruitiness and fading black pepper corns.

A tall, frothy off-white head tops this hazy, deep copper beer. Malty sweet aroma with nice banana. Sweet, fruity, and full bodied. A Nice Dunkelwieizen.

Orangey-brown with some haze. Mostly toasty with some light pedio and peanuts. Fatty taste, slick, with some bland peanutty notes and a thick, unappealing finish.
