Cask at Lych Gate, Wolverhampton. Pours a dark reddish brown with a medium sized foamy cream head and good lacing. There’s roast malts in the aroma along with spices and raisins. Malts again to the fore in the mouth together with dates, figs and overripe apples. More flavours emerge later – dark fruits and hints of chocolate and liquorice, leading to a fruity and spicy finish. This is a decent stout.

Spotty beige head on a near black still body. Liquorice, spicy & raisin aroma. Medium bodied, smooth thinning out to a clean back. Nutty, roasted, malt, liquorice & fruity tastes with a bitter tangy finish. Decent enough.

500ml bottle taken away from the Queens Road Tap, Leicester and drunk at home. Dark brown, a little bit translucent. Big roasted malts, some coffee, a touch of charcoal. Bittersweet taste with fudge and a little touch of blackberry. Intense bitterness at the finish. Too-strong coffee in the aftertaste. Medium carbonation. Not bad.

50cl bottle from Samonite. Medium creamy beige head. Clear almost black pour. Another odd tasting beer from this brewery. Doesn't taste much like a stout but doesn't taste bad.

17th Aug 2017: cask half-pint at The Crown Inn, Oakengates. Dark ruby body, beige topping. A little disappointed with this actually, weak coffee esters in the nose and even weaker coffee flavours in the taste. Slight red berry like notes in the background but I am glad I only had a half.
