1125 Vlierbeek Grand Cru is named after the Abbey of Vlierbeek that was founded in 1125. The golden blond beer was first presented to the public at the abbey celebrations in 2018. Broeder Jacob collaborated with the Center for Microbiology at Leuven University to develop a unique yeast type. This unique yeast type, together with the addition of 3 Belgian hop varieties, gives the beer a light fruity and fresh taste with a slightly bitter aftertaste.

Bottle from Prik & Tik, Riemst. Pours hazy dark golden with a big, frothy, white head. Aroma of apricot, banana, yeast, white bread, honey, jenever, clove. Taste has sweet apricot, banana & apple over bready-honeyish malts, a bit spicy, ending yeasty with grassy hops & quite a lot of warming jenever-like alcohol. Medium body, slick texture, lively carbonation. Not obnoxious in its sweetness but not complex either.

Blond colour with light haze. Aroma and flavour have a nice balance of pale malts, Belgian yeast and candy sugar. Sweet but not cloying. Fairly crisp and clean.
