A red ale with rich and smooth flavors of malted barley, balanced by underlying hints of dark fruit. Brewed in homage to our hometown tulip festival, Red Tulip evokes spring's renewing spirit. Excellent with roasted pork, red-meats and dried fruit.

Nestle’s quick chocolate greets the olfactory when you pop the lid on this stuff. Very friendly initial impressions. Beautiful swirling hypnotizing pour. Pour this like an unfiltered dunkelweizen. There is a layer of gunk on the bottom of this bottle. Dark cloudy rootbeer brown. No head. Taste is almost choco malt. I think I may detect some anise or licorice in there too. Some mild back of throat industrial bitterness appears on the palate. Very unique to say the least. How about that, I am imagining red tulips as I drink, quite an experience. Some mild carbonation. Overall the taste of this is well controlled but that medium bitter bite keeps you aware and continues to build thru the session. In the end there is a linger that hangs for a short while.

Dark amber color. The aroma is a mix of chestnut honey, dark caramel, puke. Medium body, based on the caramel taste, so similar to many German Dunkel, with some honey flavor more. Not my kind.

Bottle. Butter cream and cherry malt aroma. Hazy dark amber color with small head. Molasses malt and cherry malt flavor. One of the better amber ales I’ve ever had.

Bottled at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Dark roast red, brief head. Roasty grassy nose. Sweet with medium body andclean, rounded mouthfeel. Light papery malt together with vague notes of chocolate make up the fairly simplistic flavour. Drier finish with low bitterness. Simple and rather lifeless.

Not bad at all. Light red color and minimal carbonation. Simple malt aroma with just a touch of apple, but it doesn’t smell bad. Flavor is simple dry malt. I would actually describe this as an Irish ale, some dough/biscuit flavor. A simple session beer. Not offensive, but it does nothing to set itself apart.

bottle - Pours dark amber with a thin head. The mild aroma is mostly of caramel malts. The flavor is sweet and malty with a decent mild hops balance. It’s medium bodied and fairly lively on the palate. This is an easy to drink beer and not bad.

Deep amber/red coloured body with hardly any head. Aroma of fresh fruit, tart acids and a bit of strong malt. Medium to Full-bodied; Chunky malty mouthful with a strong malt presence and little else. Aftertaste shows a tiny bit of tartness and some sugars, but once again the malt is the strong character. Overall, a decent beer - not great - but it wasn’t expected at all. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 31 May 2005.

Pour is a dark red with no head. Aroma is malty and fruity. Flavor is leathery and smoky. Reminds me of a weaker Skullspliter. Good but not great.
