This beer is based on an original recipe that Adolphus Busch brought with him when he came to America. This Marzenbeir has a malty aroma and an amber-red color. Traditionally brewed for the Octoberfest [sp] season, this 100% malt beer utilizes only 4 ingredients: malt, yeast, hops and water.

Bottle. I didn’t want ti rate this one that high, but, yea, it deserved it. Nice amber color, Tasty marzen malt flovor. Good stuff.

This pours from 12oz bottle a clear amber gold with a large head of foam that shrinks to a fine layer and it has some lacing.
The smell is malty and slightly fruity.
The taste has notes of sweet malt and grain and it has some hoppiness near and through the finish...hmmm. Pretty weird tasting for the style and the more sips I take the less I like what is going on here. It *has* to be the over abundance of sweetness that is making me enjoy this brew less than it could. The body and carbonation are medium which is nice but I just can't get into the flavours. I'll probably not buy this again but keep on experimenting A-B.

Bottle from a real discount store. Pours amber with a creamy light beige head. Medium caramel aroma. Med body. Flavor is rather toffee, perhaps with a touch of diacetyl. There’s some decent noble hop bitter. It actually has some bitter in the finish.

Bottle. Pours an orangish amber with a thin head and aromas of honey, caramel and sweat. Flavor is OK, especially considering that it is from the Michelob \"We want to be craft brew\" series. Flavor is a weak Oktoberfest with a little bit of honey and malt sweetness. Not that bad from the source... not that good for the rest of the brewing world.

12 oz. bottle from a sampler. Orange pour with a medium head that quickly disappears. Aroma is major toasted grain with fruity banana notes. Taste is pretty much exactly the same. Very sweet, lively carbonation and medium bodied.

12 oz bottle-pours a dissipating off white head and copper color. Aroma is some medium malt, nutty, adjunct?, earthy. Taste is some medium malt, nutty, adjunct?, earthy/spice (some saaz) hops. A bit thin on the finish. OK/mild carbonation.

bottle - I had this one before the Leinenkugel’s Oktoberfest. They’re actually pretty comparable. This one pours clear light amber with a one finger head. It has a weak caramel malt aroma. The flavor is sweet caramel malt with a little hops in the finish. The body is light to medium and it’s bubbly on the palate. There are better Marzens out there, but this isn’t bad for an A-B release. I don’t know why this beer isn’t categorized as an Oktoberfest/Marzen here though.

Aroma of lightly roasted malts, with a good proportion of barley. Amber color, medium head. Tastes as it smells, and not strongly. Pretty nice finish of lettuce and grass. Probably as good as it gets with A-B.

Bottle: Clear and bubbly copper pour with a small white head. Nose is initially bitter with lagerish sweetness. The taste has hints of hops, malt, and some metallic tones. Thankfully, this was a freebie.
