Not a bad beer. This has a good balance and color. Not quite the acomplishment that their "Dark Radish" but a well made beer just the same.

From old tasting notes. Nice Amber red color. Foamy beige head. Sweet toffeeish toasted malt aroma. Bittersweet toasted malt flavor with a chewy mouthfeel. Good bitter hop finish.mvery faithful to the German style.

Rated from old notes. Hoppy and toasted taste. Unchallenging and has the makings of a failure, but comes back around and settles into a drinkable if unglamorous beer.

On draft at the brewery restaurant. Pours clear amber with a white head. Sweet malt backbone. Not much else.

Caramel and toffee nose, with a metallic tinge. Cloudy orange, thick yellow head, poor retention. Lightly sweet unmalted grain initially, tinny at midpalate. Finishes more bitter with rotten cherries. Not the greatest maerzen or vienna, but drinkable and still better than macro swill.

16.9 oz. bottle from Wine Warehouse. Golden-red color with a thin head that disappears quickly. Faint fruity and grainy aroma. Tart and nutty taste with fruity notes. Possibly infected.

Bottle on 07/15/2008. Very slightly hazy copper amber body with a medium frothy white head. Sweet nutty and grainy aroma. Sweet nutty and grainy flavor with a bit of sour green apple. As I further sip on the glass, the infection becomes more clear, this is getting kinda rough, and I’m fairly disappointed. Medium body with moderate carbonation, but a bit harsh to drink.

Tap. Light raspberry malt aroma. Dark amber color with moderate head. Light sweet malt flavor. Light body. Very light but tastes good - nice for the style.

Courtesy of City Beverage in Winston-Salem. Pours a rather dark amber color with a medium light tan head. Fair lacing throughout the glass. Lots of malt as well as some toffee in the aroma. Kind of thin-bodied and a little on the watery side, with some malt in the flavor. However it is not as much as the nose indicates you should expect. There are also touches of caramel and hops but again not in any great amount. The finish holds some sharpness on the tongue but it isn't all that flavorful. Overall this beer was a bit of a disappointment.

Colour is a very rich amber with a thick light tan head. Large malt aroma with some hints of spice lingering in the background. Thin bodied, almost like water with almost no taste. Some malt is evident later on in the taste, but almost no hops are present. Not even close to the style on this one, and a big disapointment. From the colour and the smell I figured I'd at least be able to drink this beer...but this is pretty bad! I got this twelve ounce bottle at Total Wine in Manassas, Virginia, but I'd suggest you not to do the same.
