Our Scotch-style ale, named from Norse mythology, combines the heritage and tartan of our brew team. The roasted barley and chocolate malt lend a bold flavor to this delicious dark beer. Its increased hop level is a modest departure from a true Scotch-style ale. We hope you agree this is a beer worthy of the name Tasgall, "Cauldron of the Gods."

Pleasantly sweet with nice hop balance underneath. Dark reddish-brown pour with small off-white head. Aromas of caramel, malts, peat. Very sweet flavor that reveal some fruits and earthiness. Hops show up at the end. Full body is sticky for a long finish. Comfortable mouthfeel. Reduced carbonation. Very nice.

Bottle Pours a deep redish brown with a small off white head and spotty lacing. Woody, earthy fairly sweet aroma. Flavor was similar woody carmel wioth some grassy bitterness. Very low on the hops, and a decent full palate. A nice example of a style that I like. Thanks Jordan

Thanks to ross for this bottle - deep reddish-purple pour, with well-sustained, off-white head - nice smoke and peat presence, with hints of plum, chocolate and caramel, along with a fig-and-toffee, almost english barleywine aroma - the flavor is equal amounts dry and malty - dry cocoa and smokey qualities couple with medium caramel and chocolate malt swetness - light peat flavors - some gentle barleywine character from the aroma comes late to the flavor - slight alcohol warmth - a unique and tasty scotch ale - someone please send me some more!

Rather dark brown colour. Milk chocolatey malt aroma with caramel accents. Sweet flavour shows more caramel and chocolate in the malt profile. Balanced hoppiness.

(Bottle 65 cl) Pours a clear, dark brown with a warm, orangey glow. Lightly creamy, beige head. Full, malty aroma. Rich and full body with loads of roasted malt. Accents of overripe fruit and plums. Dry finish with vague burned notes. Very lovely indeed. 170406

Bottel - thanks to Fish for the trade. Hops and butterscotch/caramel aroma. Opaque brown color with small head. Flavor a slowly building creamy/smoky chocolate caramel flavor with a mildly bitter hops finish. Complex, strong and smooth. An extremely well-made beer.

A deep red beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is very hoppy combined with strong notes of caramel: The flavor is very sweet, but at the same time extremely dry, with an end that contains light woody notes. A nice powerful Scotch Ale.

2005 bomber very generously given by Beeryum. Shared with Muzzlehatch on 2/18/06.
Deep auburn-magenta, with swirling tans and melted caramel tints. Mostly clear, with small, infrequent bubbles creating a moderate amount of light beige head with fair retention, but little to no lacing. The nose shows silky, milk chocolate sweetness complemented by light bready brown malt notes, a touch of light hazelnuts and even some mild wood smoke. Dry dark fruits are not so much pungent/tart as they are lightly fruity and mildly acidic. Aroma strength is quite high as well. The flavor is steeped in chocolate, with a touch of sweet raisins, rich caramel and brown sugar. Crusty, dry brown bread and some green, floral and juicy hops add a drying balance. Some cinnamon and pepper-like ntoes seem out of place for a scotch ale, as it’s not quite fully clean when I think it should be, but no DMS that I have found in other Highland beers. Very silky, moistened texture, ending creamy-sweet but with remnants of dry breadiness. Wonderfully extracted malts, overall, with a moderate carbonation. No alcohol noted whatsoever.
