So I stopped drinking imperial stouts some time ago, I was pretty tired of the race to bigger and bigger beers, and the kitchen sink approach of throwing a shit ton of ingredients into recipes to find some way for a beer to stand out from the others. But after several years of sticking to lagers and IPAs, I'm venturing back into the porter/stout world, and this is my first impy stout in a long long time. I wanted to find SN Narwhal, to no avail. So I picked this. Its interesting, and not bad. Thats my first overall impression. Some details: pours inky black with a small brown head, fine bubbled foam. While I can smell a bit of oaky oxidation, this beer doesn't seem to let the individual traits of chocolate, bourbon, or coffee stand out. Rather they all blend to together to create a more singular experience - and this I can appreciate. That experience is a nose and flavor that leans very dark ale-fruit, plummy and figgy. There's a definitely roastiness that skirts the edges behind that fruitiness. Alcohol and acrid bitterness rise at the finish, tends to pretty heavy on the palate. I'd say on the whole this is pretty good for a high grav impy, its not wrecked with mystery ingredients, and everything plays well together to give a unitary experience, big semi-sweet, fruity-roasty oaky stout.

Got this to go. Epic Big Bad Baptistβs Chocolate Rapture 12% Deep inky black with a long lasting burnt tan top of foam. The aroma is nice roasty coffee and vanilla. Full bodied with a lush mouthfeel. Nice chocolate, soy and vanilla with roasted coffee beans flavor. Quite a bit of warmth, really nice and Iβm glad I got this to go as otherwise it may have made it hard to get home afterwards. Beer of the day for me.

Black with a tan head. Aroma has boozy whiskey upfront, oak, chocolate, coffee and vanilla. Flavour is heavy sweet and moderate bitter. Light full bodied with alcohol warmth in the finish and soft carbonation. Nice but a little to boozy.

Tasting at Andrey's; release #5, 2019, 11.1%ABV
Black colour, compact brown head. Chocolate aroma. Less sweet than expected, hence the flavour of cocoa is bolder, it also seems a bit sour; strong alcohol feeling.
Very good, but less impressive than other BBB variants.

Bottle shared with Caesar. Opaque black color with a medium sized off-white head. Aroma and flavor are malts, roasty, I miss the chocolate, but it's still a pretty nice beer. Body is decent, carbonation is fairly soft. Alright.
