On tap at The Beer Junction, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out lots of chocolate, whiskey, light coffee, and vanilla beans. Flavour is wonderfully rich, with lots of whiskey, coffee, and cocoa upfront. Beautifully integrated, with a pretty incredible depth. Lovely.

Keg at Houdini's Escape, 2.14.20. Black, thin brown head. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, whiskey, oak, raisin. Taste is chocolate, raisin, vanilla, oak, smoke. Booze well hidden for 12%. Nice but a little thinner than expected for the style.

This is one of the better bruise in this series. Both the Aromas and flavors are very well-balanced and smooth. Aromas are cocoa, dark malt, roast and coffee. Flavors are like nose, slightly more sweet than bitter with good carbonation and no off qualities. Body is full not overly round satisfying with a slight bitter and boozy finish in a good way. Really nice beer.

Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 2 finger dense and rocky tan head with amazing retention, that reduces to a large cap that lasts the whole glass. Thick foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Amazing appearance. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, dark roasted coffee, vanilla, cream, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, whiskey, toasted oak, biscuit, and dark/brown bread/crust; with lighter notes of coconut, licorice, molasses, raisin, prune, cherry, fig, date, smoke, leather, tobacco, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Minimal booze in the aromas as it warms. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/black/roast/bready malts, cocoa nibs, coffee, whiskey barrels, and light earthy hop/fruity yeast notes; with big strength. Taste of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, dark roasted coffee, vanilla, cream, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, whiskey, toasted oak, biscuit, and dark/brown bread/crust; with lighter notes of coconut, licorice, molasses, raisin, prune, cherry, fig, date, smoke, leather, tobacco, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Mild herbal, grassy, peppery, roast, char bitterness; and whiskey/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, dark roasted coffee, vanilla, cream, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, whiskey, toasted oak, biscuit, dark/brown bread/crust, coconut, licorice, molasses, dark fruit, smoke, leather, tobacco, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toast/oaky earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts, cocoa nibs, coffee, whiskey barrels, and light earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; with a fantastic roast/hop bitter/sweet and whiskey/oak spiciness balance; with no cloying, acrid, astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/roast bitterness and whiskey/oak spiciness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/velvety/bready, and lightly slick/sticky/chalky/tannic mouthfeel that is fantastic. Mild increasing warmth of 10.5%, with minimal lingering barrel booze after the finish. Overall this is an incredible flavored barrel aged imperial stout. All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts, cocoa nibs, coffee, whiskey barrels, and light earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the big ABV, with the mildly bitter/charred/tannic/drying finish. Fantastic soft/silky feel for the ABV. Amazing balance of super rich malts, fruity/nutty coffee, cocoa, vanilla, and whisky barrel presence/integration; with mild earthy hops and fruity yeast. Not overly sweet/heavy from lingering dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and amazing style example as expected.

2019 bomber. Aroma is chocolate, light raisin, vanilla, light tobacco, light coffee. Pours motor oil black with a one finger tan head with decent retention. Taste is moderately bittersweet with lots of chocolate in flavor, with the other aroma descriptors there but less prominent. There’s a faint vegetal off-note, but it’s not that intrusive. Tasty overall.
