Batch 10,000 is a Double Brut IPA with mango and black currant celebrating the 10,000th batch brewed at Short’s. Powerful flavors of mango fruitiness and black currant tartness blend with alcohol notes from the high ABV. A huge amount of hops contributes to a palate coating body that smooths as you enjoy more. The burnt orange color is indicative of the warming finish.

Mango, black currant, biscuit malt, and grapefruit peel aroma. Cloudy orange-amber with large light tan head. Very sweet, cloying citrus, biscuit malt, and moderately bitter grapefruit peel and pine flavor. Okay body - extreme sweetness followed by strong bitterness. Not a fan.

12 oz can. Pours a fully hazy golden amber with a small off-white head. Aroma has slightly tart fruit (mango) and berry. Flavor is juicy ripe mango well mixed with the black currants, orange/citrusy hops. Works quite well.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 2/18/2019. Pours moderately hazy deep orange/amber/light copper color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky cream colored head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big juicy/fairly tart/tangy mangoes, black currants, red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, lime, peach, plum, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, light peppercorn, pine, honey, biscuit dough, light caramel/toast, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/fairly earthy hops, mango, black currant, and bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of huge juicy/fairly tart/tangy mangoes, black currants, red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, lime, peach, plum, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, light peppercorn, pine, honey, biscuit dough, light caramel/toast, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness; and fruit tang/tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/tangy mangoes, black currants, red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, lime, peach, plum, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, honey, biscuit dough, light caramel/toast, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/fairly earthy hops, mango, black currant, and bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness and tart/tangy fruit balance; with no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness and tart/tangy fruit. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/sticky, and fairly resinous/rindy/acidic/tangy balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Minimal lingering warmth of 14.2% after the finish. Overall this is an incredible huge imperial Brut IPA! All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/fairly earthy hops, mango, black currant, and bready malt flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to drink for the huge ABV; with the modestly bitter/tart/tangy/resinous/drying finish; not overly aggressive. Feels like Galaxy, Mosaic, Citra. Extremely juicy and fairly dank/earthy hops/fruit; with a great balancing bready malt backbone. Bit of jammy fruit notes. Mild residual sweetness from lingering resin dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and amazing style example for the ABV.

Burnt orange color. Mango on the nose but not too fruity. ABV doesn’t hit you in the face on the palate. I like. I love smooth drinking high ABV beers. Dry, slightly bitter. Reminds me of a Grand Cru. Overall a really nice beer that should be enjoyed by leisurely sipping.
