16 ounce can into signature pint glass, best before 4/3/2019. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy deep golden/amber color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of lemon, orange, peach, pear, melon, red apple, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, cracker, white bread dough/crust, toasted biscuit, light honey/nutty, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of bready malts and light-moderate earthy hops/fruity yeast notes; with solid strength. Taste of big lemon, orange, peach, pear, melon, red apple, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, cracker, white bread dough/crust, toasted biscuit, light honey/nutty, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate pine, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, minty, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of lemon, orange, peach, pear, melon, red apple, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, cracker, white bread dough/crust, toasted biscuit, light honey/nutty, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of bready malts and light-moderate earthy hops/fruity yeast notes; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, and fairly crisp/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Slight lingering resins. Zero warming alcohol for 5.5%. Overall this is a delicious ESB. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of bready malts and light-moderate earthy hops/fruity yeast notes; very smooth and fairly crisp/refreshing to drink with the mellowly bitter/drying finish. Feels like Northern Brewer hops. Very clean and nicely rich English malt showcase, balancing earthy hops, and restrained fruity yeast complexities. A very enjoyable offering, and impressive spot on style example.

Draft. real clear gold color with ample head. English malt and citrus hops. Flavor is mostly the same. Body is lots of bready malt with a weak fruity hop like note in the finish. This style in general doesn’t get me excited so.... I can’t really say anything other then it didn’t have much flavor to me. Maybe if you love ESB’s you will want to order a pint.

tap at the brewpub - Pours copper and has a mild, hoppy aroma with some caramel. The flavor is light hops bitterness with bready and caramel malt and a hint of fruit. The bitterness lingers pleasantly.

Bottle listed as Moondog ESB from Beervirgin72. Bottled on 08/04/08. Pours with a small, off-white, foamy head with good lacing. Hazed golden yellow color. Aroma has some hops, diacetyl, honey and bread. Flavor is devoid of hops, with cereal and honey...all malt. Grainy, but clean. Moderate carbonation.

Bottle: Bonus from Monger - Thanks! Pours a light copper color with a large, fluffy sand colored head. Nice sheets of sticky lacing. Aroma is rather mild, soft with maltiness and a mellow floral bitterness. Picking up some caramel as well. Taste malty and bready with a little bit of caramel and citrus. Floral hops make up the trailer. An easy drinker.

Smooth and mildly oily on the palate. Good beery and yeast aroma without any ill tempered alfactory. Lots of personality right from the start on the tongue. Tries to become acridly bitter but just never gets there. Finish is bitter, like bitter medicine and lingers for quite a while. You can really feel the hops in this one. Ignites emotions from within.

This bonus beer came in a trade with jmikolich. Thanks James. 12oz bottle pours a transparent orange with a frothy, sudsy white head. Sweet, malty aroma has a strong biscuit backing. Flavor is same as the aroma, bread and crackers with a strong fruity flavor coming in at the end. Dry and crisp on the finish. Certainly won’t knock your socks off but it’s still a drinkable session beer.

Sampler at a beer tasting at Binny’s, Orland Park. Do I need to point out: named for Alan Freed’s "Moondog" radio show in WJW, Ground Zero for Rock’n’Roll? Okay, then. Fine, basic color, with a rich English ale smell. Taste is very clean, a nice satisfying hop bitterness over a mild malt profile. Beautifully balanced and as nice a beer in this style as I’ve ever had.
