Rated at Hitas Beer Lounge - Platinum Edition. Massive old money licorice roasty overdose with some prunes, ripe fruits, molasses, warming alcohol and booziness. Intense. Heavy. Massive.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown hue with a tiny beige head. A big sweet nose, caramel, toffee. Rich, boozy syrup, essence of fruit, dark molasses. Woody.

2022 vintage 12oz bottle, purchased at Kuhnhenn, pours with a deep dark chocolate colored body that supports a thin tan head of foam. The modest aroma offers up booze and then chocolate malts, vanilla and then sweeter molasses and brown sugar. The taste delivers smooth rich chocolate malts mixed with lightly roasted malts, vanilla and then thin layers molasses blended with faint sweetened dark fruity esters. Another sip brings up hints of toffee and a sense of caramel candy. Solid sipper.

Pours a pitch black body and a decent brown head that doesn't last long. Aroma's of fruity alcohol, bourbon, molasses, roasty, light umami. Retronasal: alcohol, something weird that I don't know how to describe, salmiak, molasses. Flavour is heavy sweet, fruity, and with a touch of roast. Medium bodied (at best). Quite sharp alcohol. Long finish, molasses, light bitter, light roasty. Nice, but very strong (no mention of the ABV) and no great balance.

Bottle from Drankgigant and consumed at home in the company of Craig and Stella Saturday 14th October 2023 listening to DJ Paulette on 6Music this evening. Pours black or thereabouts, the nose is a little bit boozy, as Craig suggests the barrel ageing is a bit too much, this is very warming, thick mouthfeel, big in the mouth. I like this, lots of big sticky dark fruits, but it's a bit too sweet. Like this actually it gets quite tangy, it's a grower, it's a big bolshy beer that rewards you if you persist.
