When Johann Liebhard started brewing and serving his own beer on February 2nd, 1878, dark beer was by far the predominant beer style in the Munich area. To remember our great-grandfather, we decided to celebrate the occasion of our breweries 140th anniversary with a special beer.
Ayinger Altbairisch Dunkel unfiltriert (or Jubiläumsbier, jubilee beer, for friends) is brewed from five types of malt, using the traditional double fermentation process.
We are quite sure that Johann Liebhards guests would have appreciate our creation. With its warm aroma and malty taste we honor 140 year of tradition and taste.

Bottle from HOTM. Pours brown with a slight haze, nice tight moderate sized beige head. Aroma of sweet malts, caramel, nuts, grassy hops. Taste as aroma but with a dried fruitiness in the middle. Smooth medium body. Excellent dunkel.

Bottle @Beershoppe (Rome). Bruna, schiuma écru media. Al naso note di zucchero di canna, caramello, miele, lieviti, leggero erbaceo. In bocca è abboccata, dolce, poco equilibrata, manca di una punta di amaro in chiusura. Corpo leggero, carbonazione medio-leggera. Non un granché.

Marrón cobrizo bajo una cremosa espuma de colorcillo canela claro, muy turbia. Aroma a pan negro, malta tostada, hierba, caramelo. En boca primer trago dulce, rico en maltas tostadas, fondo de caramelo, y pan de centeno, final muy llevaderamente amargo y herbal, con cierto punto especiado, muy rica y muy buena

500mL bottle at Far Away Bar, pours a deep dark amber brown with a medium beige head. Aroma doesn't seem the freshest—even though the best before date is 6 months from now—with stale bready malt and toasted caramel. Flavour is much the same, with stale bready malt and some herbal notes. Honestly not too happy with this. Doesn't drink like a 100th percentile dunkel.

(Bottle) Brown colour with creamy, tan head. Malty nose with notes of dark bread, caramel, dried figs, milky chocolate, hazelnuts and a touch of orange peel. Malty taste with crisp-bread, dried fruit, dates, milky chocolate, orange peel, caramel, hazelnuts and a gentle herbal/grassy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a slight sweetness. Tasty, well balanced and moreish. Very nice.

Foamy off white head stayed on chestnut coloured body. Christmas cake, malt & demerara aroma. Medium bodied, smooth, creamy & sticky on the back. Toffee, berries, biscuit & demerara tastes with a bit if a woody finish. Like it - good one.

Trübe bräunliche Farbe mit weißer Schaumkrone. Malziger Geruch mit Karamell. Geschmacklich malzig mit Karamell und etwas Schokolade, leicht hopfig. Mittlere Süße mit leichter Bitterkeit, mittlerer Körper mit spürbarer Kohlensäure.
