Bottle from Drankenhandel Leiden. Winter spice aroma with strong cinnamon, clove, dark malt, nutmeg, liquorice, candy, cough syrup. Not picking up much maple. Flavour is sweet with a mild roasty bitterness. Body is medium. Yikes, not to my liking at all, way overdone on the sickly cough syrup spices.

backlog. Pours very hazy dark brown. It has a spicy, malty aroma with maple. It hastes of sweet malt, toffee, maple, and oak. Quite good.

Fluffy tan head left a creamy cover on a mahogany coloured body. Maple syrup, clove, Christma pudding & demerara aroma. Medium bodied, soft over the palate lightly carbonated clean back. Spicy tastes with raisin, syrup, clove, medicinal & herbaceous tastes with tangy peppery finish.

Very thin. Mad herbal and quite bitter. Too much herbal for me, out of balance, wayyy too much clove. No maple at all, or sweetness for that matter. Different, but not for me and not warming either. Where's the maple?

Bottle. Pours a clear very dark ruby color with a thick beige head and great retention. Decent lacing. Boozy imperial aroma. Creamy body. Nondescript taste. Maybe molasses and dark fruit and booze. Sweet, not bitter. No bad flavors, just lacking any signature flavor. Barely any maple flavor. 8.75% ABV is warming, but fairly hidden.

12 oz bottle. Pours a very deep red brown with a light tan head. Nutmeg aroma mixing with oak, maple, vanilla. Flavor has a good mix of oak, molasses, caramel, and nutmeg. Quite tasty; a touch thin if anything.

This beer is a hazy dark brown color with a medium beige head that diminishes gradually to a film. Small patches of lace. Aroma of maple, spice, malt and fruit. Medium body with flavors of sweet maple, cinnamon, malt and spiced fruit. The finish is sweet with a maple and holiday spice aftertaste. Above average overall.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 11/12/2018. Pours lightly hazy nearly opaque dark brown color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and rocky khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big caramel, maple syrup, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, cardamom, ginger, peppercorn, and toasted dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of molasses, licorice, chocolate, cocoa, raisin, plum, fig, date, herbal floral, grass, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/bready/light roasted malts, maple syrup, spices, light-moderate earthy hops, and light fruity yeast notes; with great strength. Taste of big caramel, maple syrup, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, cardamom, ginger, peppercorn, and toasted dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of molasses, licorice, chocolate, cocoa, raisin, plum, fig, date, herbal floral, grass, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, floral, grassy, roasted bitterness; and peppery spice on the finish. Lingering notes of caramel, maple syrup, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, cardamom, ginger, peppercorn, toasted dark/brown bread, molasses, licorice, dark fruit, chocolate, cocoa, herbal floral, grass, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/light roasted malts, maple syrup, spices, light-moderate earthy hops, and light fruity yeast flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitter/spiciness. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy/sticky, and lightly chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Minimal warming alcohol for 8.75%. Overall this is a delicious winter warmer. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/light roasted malts, maple syrup, spices, light-moderate earthy hops, and light fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to drink for the ABV, with the modestly bitter/spicy/drying finish. Not overwhelming on any aspect. Great balance of rich malts, spices, and maple syrup; with balancing earthy hops against sweetness, and light fruity yeast presence. A very enjoyable offering, and well made style example as expected. Did not prefer over the base beer.

Bottle. Deep translucent red wine body, thin tight off-white head. Spicy, sweet nose. Well-balanced, malty, sweet body, dense flavor profile with various spices (cinnamon, nutmeg) and maple syrup. This and its cousins are among the most inviting winter warmers.
