16 ounce can into tulip glass, no can dating. Pours nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 1 finger fairly dense and rocky khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of lightly tart blackberries, fruit skin/seed, raisin, plum, pear, apricot, red apple, red grape/wine, peppercorn, clove, light banana/bubblegum, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted dark/brown bread, light smoke, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, blackberries, roast/bready malt, and earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big lightly tart blackberries, fruit skin/seed, raisin, plum, pear, apricot, red apple, red grape/wine, peppercorn, clove, light banana/bubblegum, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted dark/brown bread, light smoke, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate peppery yeast spiciness; and herbal, floral, grassy, roasted bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of lightly tart blackberries, fruit skin/seed, raisin, plum, pear, apricot, red apple, red grape/wine, peppercorn, clove, light banana/bubblegum, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted dark/brown bread, light smoke, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, blackberries, roast/bready malt, and earthy hop flavors; with a great malt, bitter, spiciness balance; with no acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitter/spiciness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and fairly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 7.1%. Overall this is an excellent fruited black saison. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, blackberries, dark/roast/bready malt, and earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modestly bitter/spicy/drying finish. Perfectly balanced yeast, malts, and earthy hops. Not overwhelming on blackberries, which complement the yeast profile perfectly. A very enjoyable offering, and outstanding style example. Hope to see more black saisons eventually, they nailed it with this one.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a deep brown to black with an off-white head. Aromas of dark fruits (raisin, red grape, fig) with a touch of roastiness. Roasty cocoa flavor with lots of those dark fruits and molasses. Great!
