Can. Pours a thick dark brown with a thin head and aromas of maple syrup, cream, bourbon, and chocolate. Flavor has a blast of roasted malt up front that hits you with a coffee grounds, chocolate, and charcoal punch to the palate. Finish is smooth cream and maple with a little bit of abv and bourbon. Kinda nice beer, Roak!

Can from Holiday Market. Pours a dark brown to black with a small bit of beige head. Lots of maple syrup and cinnamon on the nose. More of the same on the palate. Some maple kit kat vibes. More cinnamon. Light on the barrel, but as it warms up some slight warming bourbon notes come out I guess.

16 ounce can into snifter, canned on 10/19/2018. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1 finger dense and rocky khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, maple syrup, molasses, toffee, cinnamon, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, fudge, marshmallow, nuts, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of coconut, licorice, raisin, prune, smoke, char, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Slight booze in the aromas as it warms, but not overwhelming. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/black/roast/bready malts, maple syrup, spices, bourbon barrels, and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, maple syrup, molasses, toffee, cinnamon, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, fudge, marshmallow, nuts, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of coconut, licorice, raisin, prune, smoke, char, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal, grassy, peppery hop; roast/char bitterness; and cinnamon, bourbon, oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, maple syrup, molasses, toffee, cinnamon, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, fudge, marshmallow, nuts, dark/brown bread, coconut, licorice, dark fruit, light smoke/char, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts, maple syrup, spices, bourbon barrels, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great roast/hop bitter/sweet and cinnamon/bourbon/oak spiciness balance; with no cloying/acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/char and cinnamon/bourbon/oak spiciness. Medium carbonation and fairly full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready, and fairly sticky/chalky/tannic mouthfeel that is great. Mildly increasing warmth of 11.4%, with minimal barrel booziness lingering after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic barrel aged imperial oatmeal stout. All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts, maple syrup, spices, bourbon barrels, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to drink for the big ABV; with the mellowly bitter/spicy/tannic/drying finish. Outstanding balance of rich malts, maple syrup, spices, and bourbon barrel presence/integration; with solid earthy hops against sweetness. Just as impressive as the base beer. Richer, more dessert-like at the higher ABV; and mellower on the hop/spice, and roast/char bitterness from the barrel aging. A highly enjoyable offering, and amazing style example as expected.
