330 ml bottle into chalice, bottled on 8/23/2017. Pours fairly hazy/cloudy nearly opaque dark brown color with a small dense light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lasts. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big raisin, plum, prune, fig, date, black cherry, apricot, red apple, red grape, licorice, caramel, molasses, brown sugar, brown bread, and toasted biscuit; with light notes of banana, pepper, clove, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, nuttiness, herbal, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/light spicy yeast and dark/bready/light roasted malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, prune, fig, date, black cherry, apricot, red apple, red grape, licorice, caramel, molasses, brown sugar, brown bread, and toasted biscuit; with light notes of banana, pepper, clove, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, nuttiness, herbal, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light peppery yeast spiciness, herbal/roast bitterness, and yeast tang/tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of dark fruit, black cherry, apricot, red apple, red grape, licorice, caramel, molasses, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, banana, pepper, clove, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, herbal, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/light spicy yeast and dark/bready/light roasted malt flavors; with a nice malt and tart/spicy yeast balance; with zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering tart/spiciness. Mild carbonation and medium-full body; with a smooth, creamy/silky, and lightly slick/sticky/chalky/tangy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Mildly warming alcohol for 11.5%. Overall this is an awesome quadrupel style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/light spicy yeast and dark/bready/light roasted malt flavors; very smooth and easy to sip on for the big ABV; with the mildly spicy/tart/drying finish. Definitely a unique experience. Never had anything other than stouts on a nitro format that I can recall. It definitely works really well. Extremely rich and complex; with awesome balance between fruity yeast and dark/bready/light roasted malt sweetness. On the sweeter side of the quad spectrum than I typically prefer, but I was a big fan of this. A really enjoyable offering, and great style example.

Bottle from Boise Co-Op. Dark brown pour, small ring of beige head. Nitro? Not seeing it. although there is a slightly creamy consistency. Aroma is more roasty than fruity. Taste too is more roast grains and chocolate, little of the yeast or plum notes you usually get. It actually tastes more like a stout. A little sweetness at the end saves it, but its a stretch.

Opaque brown colour, nice creamy brownish nitro head. Sweet licorice and vanilla sugar in the nose. Medium-bodied. Sweet licorice, raisins, dates, brown sugar. Malty but unpleasantly sweet. Not very complex for this ABV either. A bit like Kasteel of same strength.

Flaske 330ml fra Vinmonopolet Tromsø - Sentrum. Nå også med bruksanvisning for kvelling: Hardt mot bunnen av glasset. Ga et øl med bra utseende - og brunt skum som omdannes raskt til en lysebrun topp. Ellers var ølet svart/ultradyprød. Teppelacing. Aroma av sjokolade & sherry. Silkemyk munnfølelse. Smaken mandler, tørr kaffe & sjokolade. Litt tørr alkoholisk ettersmak.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - BB 17-10-2018, from Alko Arkadia, 20180113) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized, dense and lightly brown. Aroma had sweetness, aniseed and malts. Palate was full bodied and dryish with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, caramel, malts, Belgian style yeast and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter. A different Belgian style brew. Not something I would drink again.

Bottle from Total Wine in Folsom, CA. Pours brown with a few tan bubbles. Aroma hints of sour and definitely has darkish fruit. Med + body. There's some tartness, even a suggestion of musty wood, but dark fruit and perhaps a bit of chocolate may be the main taste contenders. It's somewhat plummy. Gets earthy - unless that's a variation on the musty wood aspect. Not totally dry and far from bitter. It's quite different from many quads. Maybe mildly tart and plummy sums things up. Plummy quads are my desire, so I'm going with that concept.

Prune and a little smoke. Plenty of resin like retiring your pipe. Black pour. A little astringent for the type of quad I like. Misses the mark a bit like Burroughs playing at William Tell. Tap at Yard House.
