Brett 1 is Brett wandering the brewer’s larder and selecting each of the favorite ingredients he has played with, deck to deck and brew to brew, creating a gorgeous version of the workhorse pale ales we love. A Pearl base gives that lightly green slightly caramel foundation bigging-up El Dorado pellets, Citra dust and Simcoe oils. Smooth citrus with tropical edges of a drinking pale.

Pretty cloudy blond beer, small creamy yellowish head, unstable, dissipates quickly, non adhesive. Aroma: bit malty, fruity, some pineapple, bit of a dusty impression. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty sourish, very bitter, lots of citrus, slightly funky, soapy touch, tropical fruits, very nice! Aftertaste: enjoyable bitterness, fruity, grapefruit, hoppy, little soapy, nice acidity, some pineapple.

Got in a BIF from zekeman17. 16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 9/12/2018. Pours very hazy deep golden amber/light orange color with a 1 finger fairly dense and rocky off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big tangerine, orange juice, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, watermelon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, light pepper/pine, wheat, biscuit dough, light honey, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big tangerine, orange juice, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, watermelon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, light pepper, pine, wheat, biscuit dough, light honey, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, orange juice, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, watermelon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/rind, pepper, pine, wheat, biscuit dough, light honey, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness balance, and no astringent hop flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy, lightly sticky, and slightly resinous/rindy mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 6.16%. Overall this is an awesome NEAPA. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mellowly bitter/drying finish, not aggressive. Outstanding Simcoe, Citra, El Dorado profile. Extremely juicy and fairly dank/earthy hop complexity; perfectly balanced wheat/oat/malt backbone, mild residual sweetness with lingering dryness. A really enjoyable offering, and spot on style example. Loved the hop profile as expected.
