Watermelon does not belong in kolsch. Faint malt aroma. Tasted like watermelon juice not a beer or ale. No finish

Draft. A- Sweet grains, melon. A- Yellow color, clear liquid, white head. T- Melon, slightly sweet, grains. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Actually refreshing and natural flavor. The melon is there but not sweet or fake tasting. It's fairly mild and you do still taste the base kolsch. Surprisingly much better than I expected.

12 ounce can into pint glass, best before 9/8/2018. Pours slightly hazy pale golden yellow color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of lightly tart watermelon, cucumber, pear, red apple, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of watermelon, fruity yeast, pale malts, and earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of lightly tart watermelon, cucumber, pear, red apple, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness; and light watermelon tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of watermelon, cucumber, pear, red apple, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice robustness and balance of watermelon, fruity yeast, pale malts, and earthy hop flavors; with an nice malt/bitterness balance. Mild lingering hop astringency after the finish, but not overwhelming. Moderately crisp/clean finishing. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth and moderately bready/grainy/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is good. A bit too harsh finish. Zero warming alcohol for 5.6%. Overall this is a pretty nice fruited kolsch. All around nice robustness and balance of watermelon, fruity yeast, pale malts, and earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink; despite the fairly harsh drying finish. Very flavorful fore the ABV. A little too bitter/hoppy than expected. Balanced watermelon, pale malts, earthy hops, and fruity yeast character. Solid take on the base style. Watermelon is not too overpowering. A nicely enjoyable offering.

12 oz can from a bottle shop in MT that I can’t remember the name of. Aroma is watermelon, grain, candy. Pours hazy pale golden with a thick fluffy white head with great retention and some lace. Taste has a significant herbal hoppy bitterness to go along with the watermelon flavor. Finishes dry and bitter. Mouthfeel is perfect, carbonation just right. This might be better than 21st Amendment.

Can from Corti Bros. Pours perry color with a slight white head. Aroma may be watermelon, but it isn’t seeming fresh. Med minus body. Sort of thin soda pop. Dilute jolly rancher flavor. If the melon was in the boil, it might be a better idea to just add the juice and some more yeast to the cooled wort. Cooked melon isn’t very pleasing. Still, this may be one of the better watermelon versions. Thinness and dilution can have a good result in some circumstances.

Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured a pale yellow color with a huge foamy white head that lingered and left excellent lacing. The aroma was artificial watermelon and some grain. The flavor was watermelon Jolly Rancher and grain. Long watermelon finish. Medium body. Meh.
