Dark American Sour Ale brewed with raspberries.

FLOAD is a Dark American Sour Ale brewed with raspberries. Very dark in color with a red hue and mauve head, this beer smells of fresh fruit, sour raspberries, and a hint of chocolate. Leading with an intense raspberry tartness, FLOAD is complemented with a light chocolate malty backbone. The finish is dry with lingering sourness.

12 ounce bottle. Murky red, not much of a head. Aroma of chocolate, plum, funk, vanilla, chestnuts. Taste is puckeringly tart cherry and plum, mild fink, chocolate and Concord grape. Medium bodied, lingering tartness. Nice.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 12/6/2017. Pours slightly hazy dark ruby red, light copper/brown color with a 2 finger dense light khaki head with awesome retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big juicy/tart/tangy raspberries, fruit skin/seeds, cranberry, cherry, raisin, plum, lemon, green apple, red grape/wine, hay, straw, grass, caramel, brown sugar, and toasted brown bread; with lighter notes of chocolate, cocoa, musty funk, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, raspberries, and dark/bready/light roast malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big juicy/tart/tangy raspberries, fruit skin/seeds, cranberry, cherry, raisin, plum, lemon, green apple, red grape/wine, hay, straw, grass, caramel, brown sugar, and toasted brown bread; with lighter notes of chocolate, cocoa, musty funk, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness and fruit tang on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/tangy raspberries, fruit skin/seeds, cranberry, cherry, raisin, plum, lemon, green apple, red grape/wine, hay, straw, grass, caramel, brown sugar, toasted brown bread, light chocolate/cocoa, musty funk, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, raspberries, and dark/bready/light roast malt flavors; with an awesome malt/tartness and tangy fruit balance; with zero puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from tartness and tangy fruit. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, and acidic/tangy/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Minimal warming alcohol for 8.9%. Overall this is a fantastic sour brown ale! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, raspberries, and dark/bready/light roast malt flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to drink for the ABV with the modestly acidic/tangy/drying finish, not overly lactic. Insanely jammy raspberries, with balanced Brett/Lacto complexity, and dark/bready/lightly roast malt sweetness. A highly enjoyable offering, and wonderful style example.

12 oz bottle. Pours deep red brown with a reddish off-white head. Aroma has some roasty cocoa and berry. Raspberry flavor, sour but not aggressively so, some cocoa. It works pretty well.

Red color with no head. Wow! Tart, tart, tart, and sour. Fruity and good. Surprised to see the 8.9% ABV. Drinks like a low ABV sour.
