Shipyard Fireberry is a classic wheat ale infused with Yerba Mate and Tiesta Tea Fireberry herbal tea blend. It is a ruby red color with aromas of pomegranate, cranberry, and raspberry with subtle floral notes of hibiscus. This crisp refreshing ale is moderately sweet from pale and whole wheat malts with tartness from the hibiscus and cranberries.

Watching when Harry met sally. Yes, I know. I haven’t seen a lot of movies. I grew up under a rock. I’m working on it.

Crisp golden and peach coloured body with a thinnish, very fast-dying pure white head that only starts at a centimetre or so tall. Aroma of tart fruits with a dash of tropical fruits, a light citrus smell and some of the yeast and wheatie components are noticeable as well. Crisp tart and fruity flavours dominate up front with a light astringency and bitterness from the wheat and yeast with some softer fruit and very dry, coriander seed freshness noticeable towards the end. Aftertaste shows the tart fruit components, but a light deal of sugars from fruit as well as a dry and herbal grassiness, but the wheat, dry grain and funky yeast properties make this complex and interesting throughout. Overall, a rather nice and dry beer with a smooth profile, but lending towards some complexity and interesting flavour profiles towards the end with the tart fruits and crisp grain. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 21-November-2018 for US$1,59 sampled at home in Washington on 08-May-2019.

12 ounce can into pint glass, canned on 9/25/2017. Pours lightly hazy pinkish golden/orange color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of lightly tart cranberry, blackberry, raspberry, currant, hibiscus tea, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice aromas with good balance of berries, tea, and pale/wheat malt notes; with good strength. Taste of lightly tart cranberry, blackberry, raspberry, currant, hibiscus tea, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Very mild herbal/floral/grassy bitterness and berry tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of cranberry, blackberry, raspberry, currant, hibiscus tea, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and balance of berries, tea, and pale/wheat malt flavors; with a great malt/tart/bitterness balance, and zero astringent flavors after the finish. Moderately crisp/clean finishing. Lightly increasing dryness from bitter/tartness. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy, lightly sticky, and slightly tangy mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.3%. Overall this is a very nice American pale wheat ale. All around nice robustness and balance of berries, tea, and pale/whea malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the very mildly tart/bitter finish. Was expecting way more tea/berry presence, but it's actually very well restrained and pleasant. Very flavorful and not watery for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

Sample at the brewery taproom. Clear copper color with a medium off-white head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Short strings of lace. Aroma of tea, fruit and yeast. Light body with flavors of herbal tea, earthy yeast and fruit. The finish is fruity yeast and tea. Decent overall.

Can pour into nonic pint glass from Hannaford. Appearance is clear amber with beautiful sparkle, 1+ finger-width fizzy off-white head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is wheat with light fruity esters, tart yeastiness and herbs and spice. Taste is wheat, tart yeast, light green apple, herbs and spice. Palate is light bodied with thin, frothy texture, average carbonation and light sweet fruit and tart finish. Overall, refreshing and light to be sure. Some nice complexity though the flavors are a bit muted to be world class. Good though.

12 fl oz can purchased at the brewery store in Portland. Labeled with 4.3% alc. Clear copper in the glass, small head. Smells like red fruit tea on the nose. Tastes nearly the same. Some tea, sweeted, sugar sweets, later hints of pale grain. More than average carbonation. Okay as a refreshing drink.
