A few times a year we cut Dan loose to brew whatever he chooses. Always handcrafted, the bottle you hold is brewed for the adventurous soul. This is a very limited edition and we make no promises to ever brew this style again.
This boss Cow rules with 9% ABV and an Original Gravity of 18.4 degrees Plato. Fine Wisconsin and Czech malts step out with hand chosen Willamette and Yakima Valley hops joined up with French and German varieties. Fresh coriander and sweet orange peel kick up Dan’s special Farmhouse Ale. Bottle fermented and hazy as an early meadow morning, expect Spotted Cow Grand Cru to be an assertively quaffable Imperial edition of Wisconsin’s favorite local brew.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle. Aroma is sweet and malt forward with some light caramel and honey notes. A bit of sugar and hints of cracker. Some moderate fruity esters with a lot of pear, lighter read apple and some banana. Pours a hazy, pale golden color with a small, thick, white head that shows nice retention as it recedes to a small film that lingers. Moderately high lacing and no legs. Flavor is fairly sweet with some cracker malt notes, but more caramel and honey. Medium low bitterness. Quite a bit of pear, banana and lighter red apple. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, an alright beer, but it’s super sweet and malty. Lots of fruit esters as well.

12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Milwaukee, 11/25/16. Hazy golden, thin fizzy off-white head, good retention. Aroma of corn, floral notes, apple skin, citrus. The taste is bready, doughy malt, corn, spice, hay. Thin-medium bodied, mild lingering spice.

This is an odd duck. On the one hand it seems like an amped up reg’large Cowboys, though a tad think. Yet I think I like the original more.
