The cognac edition in this new series of Antwerp quadrupels, bottle from Bierhalle Deconinck. Pale greyish beige, moussy and bubbly, lightly lacing, opening head, hazy deep and warm mahogany brown robe with coppery tinge. Aroma of plums drenched in brandy, walnut liqueur, fig compote, caramel, liquorice, old raisins, 'jenever', dried banana, straw. Sweet and fruity onset, brown sugariness, raisin and dried banana impressions with a sourish undertone, medium carb, supple and full body but still a bit thinner than expected based on the high ABV. Nutty, caramelly maltiness with a lightly bitterish toasty edge, herbal and bit peppery hop touch in the end drenched in a lot of very clear liquor, though not as expressively cognac-like as it could have been; this booze heats the finish and distracts a bit from the lingering malt and sugar sweetness as well as the spicy phenols showing up in the end. Pleasant enough, but a tad crude and unrefined for this style - this could and should have been more.

Sampled at zythod 2018. Thnx for sharing, everyone ! Pours dark, chocolate to caramel brown. No real head. Smell is sweet. Not overly complex. Taste is sharp. Bit booze. Grainy. Mild caramel. Easy drinker. Bit too alcoholic leaving an unpleasant side note.

Dark brown with thin head. Aroma and flavour have some sweet dark malts and the sweetness of cognac. Pleasantly woody and dry.

Thank you for sharing RB People! Sampled @ ZBF 2018. Dark brown amber, more head than the base beer served next to it. Nose is dark fruit, cardamom, liquorice, hay. BE dark fruits, low cough syrup, bread, candy, BE dark fruits, liquorice & sugar. Touch better bodied than the regular one but not getting much in the way of Congac to be honest.
