A delicious blonde ale with snickerdoodle coffee. Light flavors of coffee, hazelnut, and cinnamon make this a refreshing way to get your (coffee) buzz on!

Slightly hazy blonde and golden coloured body with a rather large, soapy and very fast-dying pure white head, about six centimetres at start that fades to just two. Aroma of pale malt, dry grain, yeast and a decidedly noticeable coffee aroma, more from coffee tea scents (the dried spent cherries) than from actual brewed coffee, however. Light-bodied; Sharp coffee flavour that tastes like lightly actual roasted and brewed coffee with a small sweetness of honey and caster sugar and a light malt note soon afterwards. Aftertaste is dry and coffee-y with a light sweetness, some bitter hops and a light grainy flavour, but the coffee comes out quite nicely, especially for the style, which I thought probably wouldn’t work. Overall, a very interesting and different take on a coffee-based beer that usually shows up in porters or stouts, but this is well executed and shows nicely, especially for the style. The hardest thing about this one is finding it, but it would be recommended for anyone who likes beer (you are on this site, right?!?) and who can find it. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 10-December-2016 for US$1,99 sampled at home in Washington on 01-May-2017.

Can. Pours a clear gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a strong coffee note with a bit of green pepper, sweet grains and a hint of cookie. Flavor has an odd combination of sweet grains and coffee with a good amount of cookie underlying.

12 ounce can into pint glass, canned on 10/11/2016. Pours fairly crystal clear medium golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big hazelnut coffee, cinnamon, vanilla, honey, cracker, bread, light cocoa, and herbal/roasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of spiced coffee, pale malt, and minimal earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big hazelnut coffee, cinnamon, vanilla, honey, cracker, bread, light cocoa, and herbal/roasted earthiness. Light herbal/spicy hop and roasted coffee bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of hazelnut coffee, cinnamon, vanilla, honey, cracker, bread, light cocoa, and herbal/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of spiced coffee, pale malt, and minimal earthy hop flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Minimal dryness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/grainy, and slightly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is a great coffee blonde ale! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of spiced coffee, pale malt, and minimal earthy hop flavors; very smooth and refreshing to drink; and very flavorful for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.
