12oz can pours a murky, deep brown with some creamy, off white head. Nose is solid, nutty, mild bread, toast, mild chocolate, a little roast. Flavor is strong, malt, bread, yeasty, mild soap, crackery, brown sugar. Dry finish. Solid.

From a bottle at the DC Ratebeer event Dec. 6, 2014. Pours a clear cola brown with an ecru head. Aroma of toasted nuts. Flavors of leather and light licorice notes. Bitter roast finish.

12 oz can purchased at France 44 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The pour is a slightly hazed brown copper black with a well formed 1 inch head. Nice retention on the head. The aroma is char roast along with a bit of vanilla. The taste is a pleasant blend of the char roast and soft sweet malt. Nut and pine come out as the beer warms. Simple, clean and nice. The palate is medium to light bodied with active soft carbonation and a char dry mineral finish. Tasty, glad I grabbed a six pack.

Pretty good version of a stout. Pours a dark black with smallish head. Aroma is full of roasted malt. Flavor is a pretty balanced combination of roast coffee and grain, with a lot of malt sweetness. Semi-bitter finish.

Can at RBSG. From notes. Chocolate and coffee but a thinner than expected texture. Regardless, I really like this one.
