This actually turned out better than I thought it might. To me a couple of things that I don't appreciate so much are dark chocolate and cherries and dark chocolate and sour. Dark chocolate and bitter yes sour not so much. Hear everything was measured and fairly well balanced and it works out pretty good. It's relatively complex which makes it all the more interesting. Aroma is roast dark malt raisins prunes Coco leather roast. Flavor is similar to nose hints of cherry fruit sour but balanced Coco quite nice.

Bottle. A- Cocoa, roasty. A- Black color, dark liquid, tan head. T- Subtle peppers, cocoa, roasty. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, roasty finish. O- A bit bland for such a big beer. Not much happening other than roasted cocoa.

500mL capped think bottle. I only purchased this because I found it on deep discount, $4.99. Apparently, this half liter bottle was originally $17.99. I am not kidding, 18 fucking dollars for a beer that isn’t sour, some expensive bourbon barrel, or made with some novelty ingredient like whale seamen or extraterrestrial yeast. Wait, let me make sure I get it, this originally cost EIGHTEEN FUCKING DOLLARS!!!! Who would want to spend that much for this beer? At 5 bucks, seems like a very decent price but at 18 I want to go to Illinois and piss on the Destihl brewery and charge them for it. But probably the worst aspect of this beer, apart from the original ridiculous price tag, is the use of cherries. Why do people like cherry stouts? And who likes them enough to pay $18 long greens for tart cherries mixed with roast malts? Eighteen clams!!!!! I do like the Belgian yeast character that smooths the edges and makes the combo of cherries and stout bearable. I guess one gets high quality when you pay out 18 bones. Would never be able to tell this is 11%, big advantage or the least one could do for 18 smackers. Slightly sweet, tart cherry, smooth and velvety mouthfeel = 18 dead presidents. It has one big hole, the cost... well except if one waits long enough for this to go on clearance.
Stamped B150-15512-1119 BOYCOTT BLAND. Cute, its attention to details like that that make the price all worth it :/

500 ml bottle into snifter, bottled on 5/21/2015. Listed as 11% on the label. Pours pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense dark tan head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, dark bread, cherry, raisin, prune, fig, molasses, licorice, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, light smoke/char, and roast/oak earthiness. Fantastic aromas with awesome complexity and balance of roast/bready malt, fruity yeast, cherries, and bourbon barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, dark bread, cherry, raisin, prune, fig, molasses, licorice, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, light smoke/char, and roast/oak earthiness. Good amount of herbal/roast/char bitterness and slight fruit tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, dark bread, dark fruit, licorice, molasses, vanilla, bourbon, oak, light smoke/char, and roast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of roast/bready malt, fruity yeast, cherries, and bourbon barrel flavors; with a nice roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy/bready, and moderately sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is an incredible barrel aged Belgian imperial stout style. All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of roast/bready malt, fruity yeast, cherries, and bourbon barrel flavors; and very smooth and easy to sip on for the big ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

Big thanks to pantanap and gunhaver, cheers! This growler pours dark murky brown with thin mocha head. The aroma is sour as expected and surrounded by thin layers of chocolate and dark roasted malts. The taste is similar starting with dark roasted malts, some chocolate and then giving way to growing sourness. It ends dry with lingering and then fading sour mash notes.

Sampled from the growler on the opening night of RBSG thanks to Adam! Poured black with a medium brown head that seemed to had a slight red hue and dissipated to the edges. Aroma had a clear cherry note that melded nicely with the notes of dark chocolate and dark bread with just a hint of underlying caramel. Flavor had much more powerful tart cherries that overwhelm the dark chocolate and dark grains a bit.
