Say Aloha to Treasure Chest 2015, an exotic pink IPA brewed with grapefruit, prickly pear juice and hibiscus flowers. Erupting with fruit-forward complexity, 100% Mosaic hops present aromas of heady citrus and refined stone fruit. The pleasantly bitter flavors of the hops are enhanced by the addition of fresh grapefruit juice. Offering balance to offset the bold citrus notes, prickly pear juice imparts a peppery-sweet kick in the finish. Tropical Hibiscus flowers give this beer a naturally pink hue, a nod to the official color of the Treasure Chest mission.

Just white frothy head soon left a cover on a translucent dark golden, still body. Minimal aroma - just lightly fruited. Medium to thin bodied, crisp & clean with a tingly feel on the palate. Very lacking in flavour. Hints of peach, floral & lightly flavoured fruits. No dates on the bottle so Iβm not sure how fresh this is but after a transatlantic trip it must be be slightly aged....

Light haze on this gold beer, tidy white head. Palate is light, semi dry and finely minerally crisp. Light malts, thin and mildly sweet. Mild hop skunk. Pine. Sweet floral fruits. Some bitterness brings balance. Little peel. Some other things going on here but hard to pin down. Light finish. Quite an enigmatic IPA but very drinkable.

2016 bomber from Total Wine, West Richmond. Pours deep golden with a small off-white head. Hibiscus overwhelms the aroma but gives way to grapefruit and other fruity scents. Flavor is pink grapefruit, light other fruitiness, bitter floral hops.

Bottle from Brewers Haven. Mildly haxy golden pour with big frothy head. Not big on the grapefruit in aroma, but adds a lot of dryness to the feel. Aroma is mild citrus and some cooked grains. Taste had a sharp bite from both the hops and citrus, but tails off quickly. Juicy and dry.

Keg at Yard House. It pours clear amber with a small white head. The aroma is sweet, juicy, fresh grapefruit, orange peel, tangerine, quava and toasty grain. The taste is crisp, bitter, decent hit of grapefruit upfront and throughout, peppery spice, pithy, waxy, pine, grassy and light astringency. The finish is lingering dry grapefruit. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Pretty decent grapefruit - driven ipa.
