Super hazy golden coloured body with a thinnish, two centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of nasty tomato, salt, pickles, malt, alcohol and a bit of fake sugars - funky, and you’d think this was a bloody mary if you had your eyes closed. Medium-bodied; Super funky flavour of salt, pickles, alcohol, grain, tomatoes, more salt, more tomato juice and a bit of vegetables. Aftertaste shows the salt and tomatoes for sure with a little alcohol and the slightest hint of sugars, but this is purely funky and interesting for sure. Overall, an odd beer with a lot of flavour - salty and tomatoes for sure that is good if you want this, or expect this, but just plain crazy if you are ’used’ to typical beers. I had to chug this one to get it down, but it wasn’t the worst beer ever when I got to the end...but it kind of started that way. That said, it was interesting to try, and if I saw something else similar to this, I’d probably buy it again. I sampled this sixteen ounce can purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 24-July-2015 for US$2,79 sampled at home in Washington on 20-September-2016.

16 ounce can into lager glass, canned on 6/18/2015. Pours lightly hazy golden orange color with a 1 finger foamy white head with decent retention, that reduces to a minimal spotty cap. Minimal lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of lime, tomato, dill pickle, chili pepper, garlic, black pepper, salt, vinegar, cracker, bread, and herbal spice earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of bloody mary mix/spices and light-moderate pale malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of lime, tomato, dill pickle, chili pepper, garlic, black pepper, salt, vinegar, cracker, bread, and herbal spice earthiness. Light-moderate spicy/peppery finish and tartness/salinity on the finish; with lingering notes of bloody mary mix/spices on the finish for a good bit. Nice robustness, complexity, and balance of bloody mary mix/spice and light-moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/tartness/spiciness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly crisp, and acidic/saline mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very solid spiced lager style. All around good robustness, complexity, and balance of bloody marymix/spice and light-moderate bready malt flavors; and very smooth and fairly crisp to drink. This felt like a spiced gose in a way, with the acidity/salinity from the bloody mary mix. A fairly enjoyable offering.
