A dark, Belgian Strong ale with notes of caramel, raisins, and berries. Subtle hints of coriander and star anise, which were both added to this brew. Fermented with Rochefort Yeast. Brewed to celebrate our 20th Anniversary as a brewery! Can you name all of the characters in this label?!

12 oz bottle. Dark red brown pour with a very off-white head. Deep molasses raisin aroma, almost buttery. Raisin and aniseed flavor, lots of strong dark fruit, green and red grape, and sweet molasses/brown sugar. Sticky syrupy, rather sweet but not quite overly so. I like it.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark brown color with red highlight and a medium sized foamy orange=tan head that left decent lacing. The aroma was malty, toffee, cherry, yeasty and biscuity. The flavor was tart and tangy with notes of molasses, toffee, malt syrup, bread, cherry and anise. Long finish and a bit of booziness comes out as it warms. Moderately full bodied. Well done.

12 oz. bottle purchased at Julioโ€™s Liquors for $5.49 before the discount. Deep ruby color with a deep brown center. Aroma is molasses, anise, chocolate and Belgian yeast.

Flavor has great Belgian yeast base, light anise, molasses and a noticeable alcohol note. Mild spice hiding in the background. (never would guess it was coriander) The mouthfeel is on the full side with huge alcohol warmth after the sip. Overall this is a very nice sipper that would do well to sit for just a little while. Iโ€™m glad I got this a little bit shelf aged at Julioโ€™s.

The taste is citrus, spice, yeast, cherries, strawberries, dark fruits, caramel, anise, a bit of nuttiness. Medium bodied, lingering fruit and spice. A bit of booze.

Pours deep mahogany into a tulip. White head with little retention recedes to skim surface. Sweet pit fruit, toffee and coriander aromas. Thick with twizzler and really nothing else... tastes like a liquid twizzler

12 ounce bottle. Pours a mahogany brown color with a small creamy beige head. Aroma of sweet malts and dark fruit. Noticeable notes of Star Anise. Intense sweet maltiness upfront has a warming alcohol prescence and hints of dark dried fruits. Notes of coriander and spice abound. Rich and complex, this is a real sipping ale. Yeast, licorice, raisin, nuts, treacle and plums all come to mind. Good job, Weyerbacher!

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 6/10/2015. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy dark brown color with a 1 finger fairly dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of raisin, plum, fig, date, light banana, coriander, clove, anise, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toast, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and dark/bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, fig, date, light banana, coriander, clove, anise, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toast, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Good amount of earthy/yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, plum, fig, date, light banana, coriander, clove, anise, caramel, brown sugar, toast, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/yeast/spice balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth and lightly slick/sticky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice Belgian strong dark ale. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and dark/bready malt flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

12oz bottle. Deep burgundy brown body. Off white head fades out pretty quick, soda style. Floaties. Deep fruity yeast tones. Caramel, brown malts. Really big, really sweet. Not unlike a Quadrupel. Has some classic Abbey/Trappist sort of feels, but isnโ€™t quite there in mouthfeel and overall finesse . OK, but not really worth the premium price. Sugar plum beer.
