Pour from a can is big and black but the head fades instantly. Nose is volatile malt. Whew, first taste is alky laced stout, very strong and flat. Difficult. Warming sensations all round. Seems like a much higher alky content than 8% fer sher. Coffee and dark bitter chocolate, coffee is subdued but the bitter baking chocolate is up front and in yer face. Halfway thru I think I'm catching a little buzz off this stuff. In the middle its beefy and mouth coating. Such a big brew. Just wish it had some co2 to make it a little more tolerable on the palate. Finish is large and in charge. Whew, quite a smack in the jaw. Big kick for only a couple of bucks.

12 oz bottle, poured dark brown with modest sized head. Full bodied. Licorice chocolate and maple aroma. Burnt malt with muted maple sweetness in the taste. Charred finish. Much more interesting than I find most oatmeal stouts.

Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a glass. Aroma is dark chocolate, medium body, lower carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is acidic, dark chocolate, some oats, a little soy sauce, and dry finish. I had higher expectations for this one.

Pour is a black with a very small tan head. Aroma is a intense char malt with some bakers chocolate and black licorice. Flavor is again wow such an over the top charred malt with plenty of roast and chewy dark grain. Finishes is neither sweet or dry, kind of middle of the road. This is one of those beers/brewers that you never hear of but can but out a stellar representation of a single style.

12 oz bottle bought at a grocery store somewhere in Upper Michigan. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, dark bread, raisin, licorice, molasses. Pours black with a thin tan head. Taste is roasty, sweet, lightly bitter. Mouthfeel is oily, perfect carbonation. Just when I was thinking I was about done with stouts due to not having a good one for so long, this beer came along. Delicious and easy drinking.

Sample at Bridge Street Tap Room. Brown-black color with a medium foamy beige head that diminishes gradually to an outer ring. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of roasted malt, coffee and chocolate. Medium body with flavors of roast malt, bittersweet chocolate and coffee. The finish is roasty with a chocolate malt aftertaste. Above average overall.

Bottle. Decent stout that doesn’t drink like 8.5 ABV. Hints of chocolate, roast coffee, and a bit of sweetness. But not syrupy, too chocolately or like a coffe drink.
