Light in color, you may be surprised by the complexity of the delicate balance in the spicy, estery flavor with a sweet finish. A dense, rich head gives an aroma to match. Tripels are notoriously alcoholic and Reverent Monk follows this tradition at 10.0% ABV. Although, the alcohol is well hidden behind the intricate flavor profile, making this beer deceivingly easy drinking.

Pour is a clear copper with no head at all. Aroma is sweet but bready malt with some cloves and alcohol. Flavor is a sweet cherry some dark bread and something like a rye spice. Finish leaves a bit of sweetness on the tongue but nothing over the top, also the alcohol is well hidden. This beer was kind of all over the place with different flavors. But while this was decent it was not a typical tripel.

12 ounce bottle into chalice, bottled on 11/17/2014. Pours slightly hazy bright orange color with a 1 finger dense and fluffy off white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big apricot, pear, apple, banana, clove, pepper, candi sugar, bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast and bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big apricot, pear, apple, banana, clove, pepper, candi sugar, bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Good amount of earthy yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of apricot, pear, apple, banana, clove, pepper, candi sugar, bread, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and robustness of fruity/spicy yeast and bready malt flavors; with a great malt/yeast balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice tripel style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast and bready malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

On tap at Seven Monks in Traverse City. Pours clear amber with a white head. Caramel and fruits in the aroma. Flavor has caramel, raisin, and yeasty cloves. A very nice beer.
