We start in the brewhouse with our radically traditional recipe for Anchor Porter, which we've been brewing since 1972. We end up in the cellar, where we add Four Barrel Flash-Chilled Coffee -- developed with Anchor especially for this beer -- during secondary fermentation. The coffee used is brewed hot, then flash-chilled within 10 seconds. This proprietary method ensures the vital aromatics and key acids of a great cup of coffee are captured and preserved. The result is a rich, smooth Porter with a roasty malt backbone, a bold coffee aroma and complex layers of chocolate, nuts and spices.

Apparently a newish take on one of the real classics of the USA craft beer scene, going way, way, way back. 150 ml. glass draft @ Craft & Draft. Blackish with a smaller white head. Nose is rather umami with a clear chocolate, mocha smell. Taste is bit weird, chocolate & coffee alright but in a slightly more muted vague fashion, fair but not amazing, very solid & I dug it a bit more than the base beer, good but not great with some umami that largely works for it, low plastic. Not perfect but this would be great as a local beer with good availability and a great price point. Fun to have this stuff in general still.

Flaska från SB. Opak, närmast svart vätska med medelhöft mörkbeige skum. Fin rostad doft med en hel del ganska mjukt kaffe. Dessutom lite mörka bär. Mjuk och rund med fin balans. Gott.
