12 oz bottle. Pours a deep red brown with an off-white head that disappears fairly quickly. Very sweet boozy raisin, bourbon, brown sugar aroma. Dark fruit and molasses flavor mixed with some bourbon, still boozy and syrupy. It’s somewhat one-note, but it’s definitely tasty.

12 ounce bottle into snifter; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours hazy very dark brown color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big raisin, prune, date, caramel, toffee, toast, molasses, bourbon, oak, licorice, brown sugar, brown bread, light chocolate, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Nice aromas with good complexity and solid balance of fruity/earthy yeast, dark/bready malt, and bourbon barrel notes; with good strength. A bit too fruity, but not bad. Taste of big raisin, plum, date, caramel, toffee, toast, bourbon, oak, brown sugar, brown bread, light vanilla, light chocolate, herbal, and yeast/oak earthiness. Minimal earthy herbal/oaky bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, plum, date, caramel, toffee, toast, bourbon, oak, brown sugar, brown bread, light vanilla/chocolate, herbal, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish. Very nice robustness and complexity of dark/bready malt, fruity/earthy yeast, and bourbon barrel flavors; with a nice malt/yeast/barrel balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth and fairly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good scotch ale style. All around good robustness, complexity, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, dark/bready malt, and bourbon barrel flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle. Pours a clear very deep amber with a a brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has sweet grains and a bit of bread and a bourbon backing. Flavor has lots of bread with hints of sweet grains and a hint of barrel.
