bottle - Pours amber and smells of caramel malt, resinous hops, and citrus. Flavor is similar with intense hops bitterness, resin, citrus, caramel, a big malt body adding a healthy dose of sweetness, and a lingering bitter finish. Solid IIPA.

12 oz bottle. Pours a hazy reddish orange amber with an off-white head. Pine and grapefruit citrus, spicy hop aroma with a sweet juicy fullness. Pine and citrus hop flavors, grassy hops, spicy hops. Again has that nice juiciness, with a strong but not aggressive bitterness. Slight toasty malt on the finish. Really nice.

Draft at the source. From old notes. Loads of citrus and caramel dominate. Hints of baking spice, toffee and pine.

Bottle pour to shaker. Red copper color. Hops, malts and slightly sweet red fruit. Excellent "red" variation of the imperial India pale ale.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 10/31/2014. Pours lightly hazy deep reddish orange color with a 2 finger dense light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of huge grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, pineapple, peach, mango, orange peel, pine, floral, grass, caramel, toffee, toast, and floral/grassy earthiness. Incredible aromas with great complexity of huge citrus/tropical hops and moderate dark malt sweetness; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, pineapple, peach, mango, orange peel, floral, grass, pine, caramel, toffee, toast, and floral/grassy earthiness. Fair amount of pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, pineapple, peach, mango, orange peel, pine, caramel, toffee, toast, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity and robustness of big citrus/tropical hops and moderate dark malt sweetness; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a smooth, moderately creamy, and lightly slick/sticky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is fairly well hidden with only a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is an awesome imperial red style. All around great complexity and balance of juicy citrus/tropical hops and moderate dark malt sweetness; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

Snifter at the brewpub, Sawyer. Hazy orange-red body, medium dissipating cream head. Big pulpy citrus nose. Bright, juicy, potent citrusy and bitter hops body, loaded with sugared tangerine and grapefruit peel and pulp, leaving a lingering citrus aftertaste. Oily and rich but avoids any harsh off-notes. A real human being.
