12 oz. can from Total Wine. Pours a clear dark brown/ruby color with a beige head and decent retention. Light lacing. Nutty and malty aroma. The taste follows the nose: Malty and nutty flavor throughout. Lightly sweet. Very smooth and clean, and very repeatable. Medium body and medium-light carbonation. Not bitter. Really good beer.

Bottle. Deep translucent red-brown body, thin beige head. Nutty, chocolaty nose with toast, brown sugar, and leafiness. Nutty body with a chocolaty bite, roasty bitterness initially, followed quickly by underattenuated syrupy caramels. Slick, nutty finish; flabby.

Bottle. Pours a clear brown with a slight amber hue and a grayish head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a strong bread note with some dark grains and a hint of leaves. Flavor has bread and grain through out that is slight earthy and dark.

Good brown. Lots up front and a bit of sweetness. A bit watery finish

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 10/2/2014. Pours clear very dark reddish brown color with a 1 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, toast, brown bread, brown sugar, chocolate, nuttiness, roast, light raisin, light herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted/bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, chocolate, nuttiness, roast, light raisin, light herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Minimal roast/herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, brown sugar, brown bread, chocolate, nuttiness, roast, light raisin, light herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice complexity and robustness of dark/roasted/bready malt flavors; with no cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied; with a smooth and fairly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice standard brown ale. All around good robustness and balance of dark/roasted/bready malt flavors; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.
