The beer pours black with a tight, tan-coloured head. A beautiful, complex aroma of vanilla, caramel, crème brulée, toasty malt & subtle spice. The beer is full-bodied, rich & creamy. Intense flavours of chocolate, vanilla, and caramel with background coffee & brown sugar. The oak contributes to the gorgeous silky texture, and the vanilla balances beautifully with chocolatey flavours from the malt. Perfectly balanced, if we may say so ourselves.

One of the breweries along the so-called Bermondsey Mile in London, my first one from them, sampled at BCBF. Creamy, lacing, moussy, yellowish beige, more or less stable head on a jet black beer. Aroma of fragrant vanilla, chocolate, cocoa powder, toffee, iron-like hints, parsley, wet wood, hazelnut shells, soggy toast. Restrainedly sweetish onset, dried berries, fig, light sourish accent; medium carbonation, smooth and bit oily mouthfeel. Very thoroughly nutty malt character, toasty edges, bittersweet with something vaguely metallic (iron) to it, coffeeish in the end, subtle but elegant vanilla, some equally subtle woodiness, warming gin-like alcohol and a dash of mellowly spicy, herbal hops. Decent enough, but no world class discovery.

(Thank you!) Sampled draft @ Billie's Craft Beer Fest 2017. Dark brown, creamy tanned head. Nose is nice basic herbal cacao, cheap chocolate, bit fake profile. Nice simple but tasty cacao, chocolate, vanilla, sugar, easy. Neat stuff.

Sampled @ Billie's Craft Beer Fest 2017. A almost black beer with a small off-white head. Aroma of smoked dark brown malt, Coffee. Taste of dark roasted malt, smoked malt, some bacon. Nice.
