Draught. Poured a dark color, very creamy and rich and bready and malty. Maybe a bit too heavy for a double bock, almost portery.

Bottle. Nice, bold flavor. Aftertaste remindsme of the old Lowenbrau by Miller. Pretty good for an American doppelbock. Dark color with a nice head that hung around. Aroma was slightly like a fruit cake. Like it.

Thanks Mike.
This was poured into a lager glass.
The appearance was a ruddy burnt amber color with a finger and a half’s worth of white foamy head that fell off at a moderate pace. Light lace.
The aroma centered around a nice dose of sweet black cherries, bready malts, earthy to grassy hops, some baked apples, light leather, sweet cereal grains, toast, biscuits and some red cherry jam.
The flavor leaned into the sweetness of the previously mentioned aromas. Light butterscotch and some woodiness entered for an even nicer arrangement flowing freely into the aftertaste and following extremely nice into the finish.
The feel was roughly medium bodied with a fabulous sipping quality about it. Carbonation felt on par with an ABV that felt just as good.
Overall, really nice doppelbock preferably wanting more around Winter. Slightly jealous Michiganders get this every Winter as we don’t have amazing doppelbocks in Vermont.

Dark brown appearance. no head. Smells a little like shoe-polish. Taste is nice. very light hops, very light, some candy taste, light sweetness and darker fruits, maybe some apple.

12oz bottle. Amber body, unfiltered, glowing. Thin off white head. Not a bad aroma for the style, some fruity yeast notes true to the style, rich caramel. I bought this for 2.99 a six pack in July, it was brewed in December, but it really holds up rather well still. Meaty, chewy thick sugary malt, not quite there in terms of a quality German example, but it is a decent enough representation. Somewhere in between a bock and and doppelbock. Loses points by being a little boring but earns them back by holding up for 7 months.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled in 11/2012. Pours lightly hazy reddish copper color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of caramel, raisin, apple, molasses, toast, dark bread, light nuttiness, herbal, earth, and light spicy alcohol. Pretty nice and pleasant aromas with solid balance, strength, and complexity. Taste of caramel, raisin, apple, molasses, toast, toffee, dark bread, light nuttiness, floral, light pepper, and herbal earthiness. Lingering notes of caramel, light fruits, molasses, toast, toffee, dark bread, light nuttiness, pepper, and floral earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Pretty nice flavor balance and robustness, with solid complexity; with slight cloying spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy and crisp mouthfeel that is ok. Alcohol is well hidden with hardly any warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a pretty good doppelbock. Solid flavor balance and complexity; and quite smooth to sip on. A pleasantly enjoyable offering.

Drank from the bottle at a family gathering. This was better than I expected. Nice job with malty sweetness without tasting syrupy or too heavy; hint of caramel, toffee. I wouldn’t turn down another one.

Bottle in Ann Arbor. Dark reddish brown appearance with a tan head. Rich toffee, caramel malty aroma. Rich caramel, toffee, slightly bitter, boring flavor.

Hazy, 70% opaque dark brown body with a thin light brown head. Aroma of coffee, raisins, plums, grapes and a bit of roasted malt - very sweet smelling of raisins for sure. Medium-bodied; Roasty flavour with malt and raisins the strongest, then fading soon afterwards to more of a subtle sweetness and a touch of nuts. Aftertaste is relatively mild, especially for the style, only some sweetness and a bit of malt tucked in. Overall, a rather mild and very sweet beer from the style, but not a bad beer in any way - a touch thin, but that’s okay too. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 16-January-2011 sampled at home in Washington on 13-February-2011.

12 oz bottle. Pours deep red brown with a yellowy tan head. Aroma of malted milk balls, toffee, and dark fruit, interesting candy aromas in general. Flavor is comparable to a sweetened breakfast cereal I think, probably a raisin bran since there are also dark fruit flavors. A little bit of smoke in the finish. Kinda grows on me, actually. Not bad at all.
